My main screen. Advice needed (pic inside)

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
This render shows all my lack of skill. I know many of you folks deal with graphics in a serious way: I need your criticism and advice.
So, without further ado:

try adding more detail to your models, and don't ever stop modelling, it can only get better

It's too sterile... And by that I mean clean...

Make a few plates of glass smashed in, a shitty rusting car and a dog ripping into something that looks like, but may not be, a human :P

Are you going for a 'clean' look, or a PA feel?

You've got talent alright, just keep modelling like Kahgan said.

Light setup is almost always like one third of the picture. Toy around with that and you will find a whole new universe! (yeah I know it sounds big and thats exactly what it is)

Textures, textures, textures. Look at the real world, try and imagine how the texture of that house would look if it was real. Any mold or rust or other damage by weather maybe? What kind of material is the house made of and how does that usually react to weather? It's all in the small details.

Listen to duckman! Make the picture more alive (You usually want that if you're going for a human environment) by adding stuff thats related to the setup (dogs, usually brought into town by humans. Shits everywhere).

Anyway, just keep modelling and look for how others have pulled a great picture of and you will be just fine.

Yeah, definetely stuff around with the lighting. I don't have any real experience with renders, but if you add a darker light source, or create a light source, it will enable an ambient render, and add some serious atmosphere.

Also, a sunset in the background, with the sky in a bright array of afternoon sunset colours (reds, oranges etc).

It's sure easier said than done my freind, but keep up the renders and you will only get better.

O.k, let's see...
A): There's no door becouse I'm not in real textures yet... Windows are made with a simple hand made grid for bump mapping. The red car is actually textured, but it's not that much... Let's say there are automatic sliding doors.
B): my mod is set some 6/12 months before the war... Which is only going to be a sort of final cut. The situation already is kinda apocaliptic, I don't think you'll going to find the post-apoc feeling missing. This picture kinda belongs to the "Future aint what it used to be" series.
C): Characters... Those are the hardest part... An organic creature is beyond my current skills... Anyway, here you go Freewheelin' Andy: as soon as I can I'll make a scene with it and an atomic mushroom. I'm planning about something in the "Future ain't..." line again.

D): Lighting is my worst nightmare. I tinkered with it for a bunch of hours, even got some better result... the trouble comes when turning the bmp into a frm. You could see lights halos stamped in the image.
E): No prob about keep modeling... That's what I do when I feel exhausted about scripting... I mean I do more modeling than scripting at present :?
That's all for now.
Cheers. (YAY!!)

Ah, I see you're using Anim8or... yeah, texturing is a bitch then... nice lighting as well...

Well, 3dsMax does make it a lot easier with all the extra shizzle... or UVW Maps that actually work the way they should... *cough*unlike other programs*cough*
