Need some help with Fallout 1 and 2 with Windows 7!

It Wandered In From the Wastes
My old acer laptop with XP stopped working and I bought a new laptop with Win 7. I heard win 7 was supposed to bre great with compatibility. I bought this laptop 4 days ago.

I have the dual jewel case version that was sold for $10-20 here in the US in maybe 99-2000. Its all patched up with the official patches. Except any of the fan made ones.

Before I had killaps patch that fixes the travel speed for FO2.

Both fallouts 1 and 2 get wierd colors like rainbow like on the install screens, movies, start up screen and where you choose a new game and so on. I can even see some of this in the game. I researched this and some on another site said the high resolution patch would work. I assume there is one for Fallout 1 and 2. I used the Fallout 2 high res patch before.
Everything else with the games works, like sound. Just the graphics are screwed up.
Also both Fallout 1 and 2 are installed in programs.

Any help would be appreciated. I really miss Fallout 1 and 2.

My specs

CPU AMD V140 2.30 gig

Compaq presario CQ56-115DX

AMD M880G with ati mobility radeon 256 allocated video memory with 867 available

2 gigs Ram

250 Gig HDD

EDIT

I kind of helped myself. I downloaded and installed the Fallout 1 high res patch and set the color to 16 bit and it fixed it. I also set it to my current resolution but did not like it. I tried to change it back to 640x480 but Fallout 1 exits out and a box comes up with a bar that turns green sating Falloutw.exe or something like that is not working/responding. But I can manually enter the resolutions.

You may want to use the "search" button in the future, but here's the solution I used.

For color problems, I found a program called something like "palettestealer suspender" which is able to fix the problems. A quick Google search will do the trick. Fallout 2 also has sfall, which you can download from SourceForge and which nicely fixes the problems. So, I used sfall for FO2 and this palettestealer suspender for FO1.

EDIT: This is the program I used, and it worked pretty nicely.
