New Age of Decadence Combat Video

I think no... I watched the video again and can't see anything, that shows me, that this is slower than fallout (if you don't change the combat speed). In the video it is also not really fast, because the player isn't fast. He doesn't click 50 times in 2 seconds.

The aimed attack on the enemy's head with that Hammer, and the subsequent death animation, were excellent :D

lulz, he is teh n00b

i liked that throw back of the soldier who was hit with the hammer very much. just like in fallout :>

well the game looks like you could have fun with it but medieval style just isnt what i prefer...

Wonder if there will be a slider to speed up the combat like Fallout?
We do have an animation speed slider and it works great. Considering the purpose of the video, right now it's on medium, but you can play them very fast if you want to.

Things I like:
Selecting weapon action by clicking on the item tab
We are tweaking that now. It would work better if you can click on an enemy and see all options with AP costs and to-hit chances.

Things I don't like:
Music is cheesy. Seriously.
Some people like it, some people don't like it. We have almost twenty tracks, done by a professional game composer.

No running ? Bah.
Running is in. In case you didn't notice, some enemies ran to you. For PC it's a matter of preference, so we have a setting option for that.

No blood.
It's in, but weak. We'll crank it up and show fountains of blood next time.

And what's with the scarface quote?
A joke. I thought it was funny so sue me. From the newspost:

"And just for the record, the "say hello to my little friend" thing at the end was a joke and is not in the game."

In the actual game if you manage to get through the guards, the noble tells you to approach and then a dialogue screen kicks in.

i have to agree, the music from the combat movie is a bit cheesy.

are you a comedian? you made me laugh :D (yeh i know  )

anyways, iam happy this game is made. watched it three times now (with sound off ofcourse)

it's isometreic and turn based, even if the setting isn't my favorite, i'll probably still take a look at it when/if it's released.

The barebones of the setting never appealed to me none either, but I like the touches VD is adding to it, drawing inspiration from different sources. It'll probably still not be in my top-lists of setting, but it looks well-crafted.

Well, to be honest at first i thought the roman setting sucks, too. But at least it's kinda new, i haven't played too many low-magic roman-inspired alternate universe fantasy RPGs before.. and who knows maybe VD hasn't told us everything about it yet (to keep the surprise..). For example we only know that there was some kind of war several hundred years ago involving "magical beings not from this world" that brought the apocalypse. And thats just what the people in AoD think about this event. Which raises quite some questions if you think about it some more..

Hopefully the story of the game is not just romping about in pseudo-Romania, but a wonderful and eerie journey of discovery which utterly subverts any assumptions of ours about the setting.
