Mildly Dipped

It's usually best to just try and increase the skills you know you'll like, and leave the rest for another possible playthrough. One of my biggest disappointments with the KotoR games is that some of the characteristics/skills/feats end up being nearly useless.
Pool of Radiance was a boringly painful experience until after I read a character guide on how a fighter/thief and cleric are all you really need in the game. From reading that, I made these two characters (leveling the fighter levels a bit first, considering you don't run into any traps right away), and eventually decided that a cleric/paladin dual class would be more effective than a pure cleric, since the max single class level is 15, but the max character level is 30 (making for 15/15 or 10/10/10 or whatever). By the end of the game I took on a full party of NPC's found throughout the game so as not to waste any of the exp on just my two characters. It was a much more rewarding experience than bumbling through the dungeon with a weak full party.
Judging from the Age of Decadence screenshots, it looks like Strength, Intelligence, and Charisma don't really give you much direct bonuses? But look at the nice effects from Dexterity, Constitution, and Perception! It seems fairly obvious to me that I'm going to want to put as many points into perception and dexterity as I can, and then go with the bow skill (or crossbow or throwing, but there's usually a bow in every game that's better than all the crossbows and throwing items) and alchemy so I can hopefully poison the VERY accurate shots I'll be firing. I won't be able to carry much but I'm going to assume there's a box somewhere I can keep all my ill gotten goodies.
Of course, this is just the first possible playthrough I'd want to do based on what I can tell from the character generation screenshots. I've heard that getting into a fight with more than one enemy can have deadly consequences, so I figure why not do it from a distance? I'm also hopeful that we can poison our arrows via alchemy and use the crafting skill to make money and/or customize our equipment and weapons.
Also, I just noticed the reputation groups. It's nice to see there's a thieving type of organization in the game (most games do it wrong but I always liked how Quest for Glory did the thieving bits) and the Styx thing will add some fantasy element to an otherwise seemingly boring setting. Even the best games (Jagged Alliance 2) can get boring after you've killed the exact same type of enemy (normal boring humans) for the 10,000th time.
