New Need For Speed Game Announced...

So, EA finally took the wraps off their latest Need For Speed game.

...drumroll, please...
...and the title is...

Electronic Arts has announced that Need For Speed Underground 2 is currently in development for the Microsoft Xbox, Sony PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo Game Boy Advance, and Microsoft Windows based personal computer platforms. EA currently plans to ship this title in time for the holiday shopping season for 2004.

Great. A sequel to my least favorite title in the NFS series. I hope that either:

Sony bagged the licenses for Ferrari and/or Lamborghini and plan to use them in a big way... as in Gran Turismo 4.

or

I take drastic measures: take the Control-Alt-Del Fallout 3 saga, replace the guy whacking Herve upside the head with a Pip Boy figure demanding Fallout 3 with me whacking the Sega CEO upside the head with a Sonic figure demanding an Xbox conversion of Out Run 2, and you see what I mean. It's THAT good.

If Out Run 2 is indeed ported, then I will never buy another Need For Speed title again. Frankly, there's nothing like crusing in a convertible Testarossa at 190 MPH, with a beautiful girl riding shotgun, and "Magical Sound Shower" blaring on the radio.

Oh, and if Gran Turismo has the cars from Ferrari and/or Lamborghini, that would be icing on the cake. I read from an issue of GamePro that Sony bagged the Porsche license, which made me scream like a little girl. I hope that it's the beginning of a beautiful relationship. Hmmm, an R34 Skyline or a Cayenne Turbo? Choices...
