new "Rage" trailer

I just can't get excited by this game... firstly, I can't remember the last id game that was actually good (they make good engines, not games).

Secondly, with Fallout 3, F:NV, Borderlands, Stalker, Metro 2033, etc, I'm pretty worn out on post-apoc. settings.

The market is so saturated with shooters, I can't see what makes this stand out.

though what do you think the focus will be the last or the former ?

You know when watching that trailer I really wish ID would have got Fallout instead of Beth. I mean we would not have got a better story (though who knows ...) but definetly MUCH better gameplay and MUCH better visuals.

I really have to agree with sea and rcorporon on this one. Post apoc is getting stale.

I liked the first half of the trailer, but then I realized it was just going to be a straight forward shooter and it made me depressed.

the post apoc setting has so much to offer besides monsters...

Can't wait, the only thing I dislike about these trailers is seeing the word 'bethesda'.

My toughts exactly Aussdoert. If you didn't tell me it was a different game I would have sworn this was a Borderlands mod or something. Other than that I don't really see what the game has going for it, it seems like generic ''post-apocalyptic'' shooter like Bulletstorm to me.

It's post apocalyptic, seen from a first person perspective and features guns and cars that's where the similarities end IMO.

It doesn't have that "MMO/RPG" grind Borderland has in spades.

The screen isn't cluttered with colourful items/ junk all the time.

It's not cel-shaded.

The graphics are about 10.000 x more advanced.

Did you expect something different from id?

Looks nice.
One thing though, the trailer shows the action button to be "e", but the movement looks more like gamepad movements, what's up with that? Was this filmed on a console or a PC?

ID software FPS? :)

Strawberry Jam on the screen when you get hit (regenerating health to go along with that), iron-sights, shiny items, piss-weak gun sound effects, following the whole "post-apocalyptic is so popular!!!!" trend. :(

Looks like another console game through and through, why bother saying "from the creators of Doom and Quake" when it's nothing like those games at all. Multiplayer will probably peer2peer and have no server list judging by Carmack's reaction to a question at QuakeCon about multiplayer last year (some guy asked if RAGE and Doom 4 will have dedicated servers and Carmack seemed quite ashamed and sad, he answered ambiguously to get out of it). And you just know Doom 4 will turn out the same.

That's not to say I won't be buying both anyway, seeing as I've played (what I think is) all of ID Software's games.

SOSSNG.

Same old shit, shiny new graphics. I think I'll pass while I'm not as burned out on Post Apoc as rcorporon I'm am totally fed up with FPS games.

Haven't really been excited by any of these new titles Bethesda picked up. Maybe it's just me but it doesn't look that graphically advanced. At least not enough for me to involuntarily shit my pants. Sure the engine is probably amazing though.

I fail to see how this has been done before.

Computer + controller

Wouldn't really care that much but would prefer the 'old' system myself.

If true that would be pretty lame.

Yeah, I guess that... makes sense... in a way... Because I can't imagine a better way to play a First Person Shooter on a PC than a gamepad. No Sir.

It's a PA FPS without the half-assed shitty 'RPG' elements Borderlands has (since everyone seems to compare Rage with that game).
I can't think of another decent PA FPS game so I fail to see how this has been done to death or bland or..

How do you know it'll be decent? FPS games have been done to death, this doesn't look like it adds anything new to the genre, graphics aside this could have come out five years ago and it still would have looked tired and old hat.
