Bethesda put up 3 "new" screenshots on their website, 2 of which are old but the PipBoy health screen I'm pretty sure is new (to the internet).

Health screen doesn't look bad, but it does look very, very confusing.

Has he crippled his head?

You could have your eyes crippled in the original Fallouts.

Yes, but this is clearly the head.

I'm not sure how I should picture a crippled head (crippled eyes = impaired eye-sight because of damaged retinas or whatever; unlikely, but makes sense in RPG verisimilitude (RPGs, where you can get shot in the eyes and live, not to mention heal your eyes)).

But yes, the health bars on the head and left leg ran out, so they're cippled. The right leg and left arm are damaged, torse and right arm are fine. Not that confusing, pretty clear overall.

Note the ease-of-use Stimpak interface, too. Xbox controllers make it easy!

how on earth did that guy end up on his head with his leg being shot off? he does look a bit stiff on the otherhand.

scenery looks great though, aswell as the blood splatter on the screen.

Yeah, but the dotted line is going all the way around his head.

Yup, which would be a very obscure way of telling you your eyes have been crippled.

Wouldn't it have been a bit better to - well - just have some clear text on the side saying "Eyes - Crippled"?

What makes you think it's telling us the eyes are crippled? Maybe the head is.

I'm assuming eyes because having your head crippled would be extremely bizarre.

It's a very surreal sentence "crippled head". I could understand "neck crippled" but what's the detriment of having your head crippled? Being ugly?

I'm thinking eyes because of his squinted expression as well, of course, it could be a crippled head - I just don't get it though.

Crippled head could be the "concussed" condition like in Fallout Tactics.

Plus, how does the character react with two crippled arms, two crippled legs and crippled head ? You can notice in the picture that when the health bar runs out on a limb it switches to crippled mode. Imagine a character that can't walk, can't fight and can't use his head ... even a spore plant could kick his ass.

As for "crippled head":

Shouldn't it be concussed? Like in the original?

Huh?

Does anyone else find it odd that the weapon is sticking out of the ground??

Nah. Faulty collision detection is a given in our brand-new modern games.

He's not squinting, you retard, he's crying.

I also still find it weird that they're using vault boy on a RobCo product.

"Crippled arm" doesn't mean "no arm", assuming they're not changing that too much from the originals

You could still act - somewhat - with crippled limbs in Fallout. Not fight, but y'know...

Of course, but that's not my point.

My point is that it's confusing and having a head outlined with the word "crippled" next to it is vague.
Someone said it before, wouldn't concussed make more sense? Having your head concussed makes sense and it does have long term consequences, but having your head crippled?

I doubt Bethesda is going to make it so that you all of a sudden can't properly utilize your jaw and chop off part of your CHR.

Albert, level 5, has a crippled head and a missing leg. He can choose (a) a stimpak, or (b) limbs... Looks like a winner to me.

Albert level 5 requires only 120 more XP until he gets 2000 and levels up to level 6.

This screen I am assuming was from a demo they were showcasing and doesn't reflect the actual XP ratio in the game required to advance.
