New Vegas Voice Acting and Party Members Revealed

Water Chip? Been There, Done That
USA Today Gamehunters have posted two articles about voice acting for New Vegas.

The first one is about Wayne Newton who will voice the "DJ programmed centuries ago". <blockquote>The designers created the role for Newton "because he is Las Vegas," Bergman says. "He really brings that extra touch of Vegas class to the game. ... And whether he's reading news stories about super mutants or introducing a Dean Martin song, his personality comes through."</blockquote> The second article reveals even more voice actors along with the characters they are playing:<blockquote>(Matthew) Perry's character, Benny (pictured here), is the head of the Geckos family. A smooth-talking criminal but also a bit of a weasel, Benny may sound dangerous, but isn't that tough. Ultimately he's more of a ruthless pragmatist than a villain.

Zachary Levi's playable character Arcade (pictured here) is a member of the Followers of the Apocalypse who hides a mysterious past. He's described as quiet, analytical, and cautious. Highly ethical and moral, he understands the post-apocalyptic world is one in which sometimes, people just have to be shot in the head. He is more concerned with large-scale issues than the needs of individuals. He may appreciate what individual people go through, but firmly believes that it's more important to affect large-scale societal change than to fix problems little by little.

Another newcomer who will be familiar to video gamers is Felicia Day (The Guild), who voices the playable character Veronica, a sarcastic Brotherhood of Steel scribe.

Actor and singer/songwriter Kris Kristofferson (The Blade Trilogy) plays Chief Hanlon, a grizzled solider at the end of his career.</blockquote>And what will interest you most:<blockquote>Michael Dorn (Star Trek:The Next Generation) returns as Marcus, an intelligent super-mutant, last seen in 1998's Fallout 2.</blockquote>Also, Ron Perlman is the narrator again, which is not a surprise. And there are some more voice actors for the characters already revealed: Raul the Ghoul is voiced by Danny Trejo (From Dusk Till Dawn), Mr.House is played by Rene Auberjonois (Boston Legal, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), John Doman (Mystic River, The Wire) is the voice of Ceasar, the leader of the Ceasar's Legion and William Sadler (The Shawshank Redemption) is Victor, "a friendly robot with the personality of an old fashioned cowboy".

Thanks to WorstUsernameEver and other nice people.

DJ programmed centuries ago to read stories about supermutants? It's better than Three-Dog shit, but still is quite stupid.

I'm not sure I'm glad about Marcus's return. But as long as he looks like original (which I'm not sure) and is not turned into a tree or anything else, I'm okay with that.

Mathew Perry is actually a Fallout 3 fan, so this must be pretty cool for him. Wonder if Sawyer is cluing him into the previous games at all?

"Could these turns taken in a city battle, BE any slower...?"

Arcade Gannon is back. I bet I know his mysterious past. :smug:

And he looks like I never imagined him...

MARCUS?

MARCUS! :D :D :D

[spoiler:61f34356b8]I bet he looks like shit in Gamebryo. :([/spoiler:61f34356b8]

Oh crap, my interest in Fallout: NV just went up.

DAMN YOU, HYPE!!

I was really hoping to have zero expectations... Now seeing that Marcus will be back makes me (somehow) think that the authors took a better look at previous Fallouts and not just F3. Which probably isn't true - there was Harold in F3 and what good did he do?

A smooth-talking criminal but also a bit of a weasel, Benny may sound dangerous, but isn't that tough. Ultimately he's more of a ruthless pragmatist than a villain.
Not sure how this will work out with such notorious voice as Chandler... But he's a great actor, we'll see. Didn't know he was a F3 fan, ZombieSupaStar, where did you learn that?

Hopefully Marcus has a custom model. I'd be a bit sad to see him like a generic super mutant.
Still, great news, it's nice to see that this time I won't have to suffer Fallout 3's recycled voices.

Obsidian Entertainment consist of quite a few people who worked on Fallout 2.

Arcade's outfit looks like a reskinned Vault Doctor/labcoat, lol.

I wouldn't doubt it. I read an interview with him a while back in which he admitted he played Okami so much he hurt his hand.

I think the best news in this is that (barring the possibility that these people voice everyone in New Vegas which is probably not the case) we have all these different actors playing specific character. Honestly, I bet this little group is close to the total number of actors in F3 (well, I dunno but...).

I have no clue whatsoever if these people have voiceacting experience but I have faith that whatever VA director who is directing the actors does a better job than the people Beth hired for Oblivion and F3.

So-so on Marcus returning. Not typically keen on bringing characters back like that, but still... I *really* hope he has a custom model/face.

The characters here also sound like they could be quite interesting.

Well, having Marcus with generic super mutant skin would so much suck donkey balls, it can't be described. He should really looks like the talking head (face and armor), else I will rate it as crap, because my imagination is a graphic whore in this case.

Doesn't mean they're not (gonna be forced to) rape the shit out of old Fallout themes. I hope Marcus will be done tastefully.

Of course he's gotta have his own model. To be honest, I can't believe how few models were done for F3, I'd like to see the number double for F:NV. The same generic raiders, identical supermutant siblings, only one model & skin for each type of animal...

O! What a big surprise: they're bringing back yet another character from the old games.

Is this how they cater to the old fans: here, we've recycled this for you, now go play in your room and shut up?

Yay!

Pretty good cast, I'd say. Much better than Fallout 3's two big names, a few Bethesda regulars and a bunch of no-names.

Stupid bitches, I wish they let him talk. Wii Bowling, they should crucify her.

I think Chandler will make a good NPC voice. Right now I feel like F:NV has 50% chance of being a decent game (i.e. what F3 should have been) and 50% chance of being a lame datadisk to F3.

I have a feeling that the character Benny will turn out to be the guy that shot the player character at the start of the game.

I doubt they'd make it that obvious.

He's a crime boss anyway, why would he send himself out to do a hit?

Considering the game's location I'm surprised there aren't more recycled characters.
