Newcomer, a commodore 64 RPG to be released in 2010

A whopping 2MB!

I hope it's good - the graphics wouldn't bother me in the least, if it's actually playable and well-balanced.

That actually looks amazing, I don't care that there was a twenty year development time, I love these style of games, i bought wasteland, I'll buy this to, now if only we had a new wales voyage with retro graphics, to go with this. I usually took breaks from wasteland to play wales voyage, when I got stuck on the former, now I need to find a similar game to play next to newcomer!

Ah this game, when I got into the retro mood years ago when I discovered they are still making games for old home computer I came across Newcomer.
I have been following it since the Enhanced edition was announced.

Interesting how suddenly a 'big' site discovers it.

Sounds awesome! I'm guess you will need a emulator to play this on the pc?

Any release date? I didn't see one on the site

The article said for PC, Mac and Linux so i guess there will be multiple versions.

Ah didn't see that, thank you

Pretty old, I played the downloadable version a few years back but never got into it really, got stuck somewhere. Always loved the atmosphere though, glad to see that it has some worldwide coverage now. It was pretty much inspired by the stuff people like around here. (wasteland, fallout, old ultimas) Still have a few issues of a local gaming magazine featuring a hefty walkthrough and articles of the original commercial version... they're from about ... what, '95!? Time flies.

Unfortunately I don't see myself ever finishing this even after the final-final edition comes out but I do hope some masochist LP this. (Codex, I'm looking at you.)

Looks like an Andyman job at least to LP this beast of a game.

Will probably buy it just because they deserve some casheroos for that amount of dedication.
Though I love old fashioned graphics, I still boot up Dune 2 every now and again just for the unit pics.
