NV PS3 performance problem

It Wandered In From the Wastes
Hi

I have a problem with NV performance on my ps3. I just wonder whether other people playing on ps3 have similar issues. So here goes:

First, I don't know if it makes any difference but I have one of the earliest ps3 models (the one with 40gb disc space).

Second, as to the problem itself: it is about the frame-rate. I noticed that around 30-40 hours of gameplay the game has huge problems with fluency. Some time after loading a save the frame-rate is so low it's impossible to play. To fix this it's enough to reset the game (not the console), but after 100 hours played I have to do this like every 1 hour or so, sometimes even less. I noticed that in certain locations, like Gammorah, BoS bunker, or Red Rock Canyon the problem occurs almost immediately. So after I load a geme saved in Gammorah, f.e., I have to reset it upon leaving the building and saving.

Anyone got similar issue, or is my ps3 so special?

Yeag, I have similar experiences with my old PS3 from 2006 as well. The frame rate never slows down in the original, but will always slow down in the DLC's when I fight NPC enemies specifically (Ghost People, Lobotomites, Yangzte Camp Survivors, White Legs).

Thx for reply, however I seem to have this problem on more locations. The DLCs actually are working quite well;)

I had a lot of problems like that, and reloading and shooting sound glitches on my PS3, I have the same model as you. I got it for my PC and it works so much better, and much faster through loading times. I enjoyed it so much on my PC that last week I got Fallout 3 for it as well, and loads are almost instant in that. So my advice would be to play it on the PC, then you also have mods :)

hmm, if it is like the PC version, a few rules of advice:

Disable auto-save, save often, and don't let too many savegames build up. Delete ones that you know you'll never go back to.

Also, if you need to reload, go to the main menue first, then load from there. Dont use auto load.

Good luck.

I have played some more since last I wrote in this topic so I think a little update would be in order.

I have now over 100 hours of gameplay on my most recent save and the game is hardly playable. I have to restart the game about every 15 minutes, sometimes even more frequently! Beside the locations I named earlier the problem seems to occur in the Strip and Freeside more often than elsewhere.

What might be interesting is the fact, that while playing Lonesome Road I had to restart the game once, twice maybe.

I was hoping to play this character through the rest of the main plot at least and to check out the GRA dlc but now I just don't know.

Oh, and disabling "save on travel" seemed to help a little.
