Oil price going to 100 dollar a barrel

tazo

First time out of the vault
well this will happen in a few months and it will be another milestone. Ofcourse atm in europe we can buy oil with a 30% discount but it will still have some effect.

Not that I am a doomsday profet..but I like to point out the intro of fallout: "not enough resources to go around"

Your reaction?

I predict we'll be forced to colonize and terraform Mars anywhere within the next 1000 years.

I predict we'll come up with nuclear fusion, turning the middle east into a bankrupt wasteland.

im not too keen on non-us numbers but here is whats predicted by these dates:

2008 - 2009: peak oil hits, prices hit $100-200 barrel

2012: US and other primary nations initiate fuel rationing to its citizenship, price hits upwards of $400 barrel

2015: the resource wars begin, with how distributed the US forces are, the only real competition militarily is china and possibly the UK. price hits $600-750 barel

2025 WW 3 or else there will be a commonly agreed upon way to distribute the worlds oil, or the major nations wont try to forcibly aquire oil.. prices hit upwards of $1,600-2,000 barrel.

right now the worst nation a worldwide energy crisis would hit is the US whos economy is 99.9% dependant upon cheap energy, the best situated developed nation is the UK at like 97.5% cheap energy dependant. europe overall is far more easily able to adapt to the loss of cheap energy as they can turn to older methods while the US has no real history and would have to play " catch-up " much worse.

i predict barrel price to be in euro soon.
Irak actually sold their oil exclusively in euros.

see how well that went over with the muricans. :P

This might be actually a good thing to force most oil-hungry developed countries to seek alternate resource and fueling the research.

Or they might just resolve to nuclear power, for now.

I rub all six of my tentacles in anticipation.

no, bicyles will be in the same boat as cars.

grease, tires, innertubes, high melting point metals...

sorry, but when oil dies, not even bikes will be viable. at least as you know them now.

I guess nobody here has heard of Carthage Missouri's MAJICK PLANT!

When I saw that all thosw months ago, it was cool, now it's even cooler.

And besides, there are *plenty* of synthetics to get the job done.

Wooz: the Middle East is smart, they've started selling sand (really) and making places like the Dubai palmtree isles some time ago.
Some others will probably go bankrupt though, and cashflow to their arsenal will drip in stead of flow.

I predict Diesel fuel in US cars. Apparently the major population still is cruising their nation with regular fuel (consuming it like crazy), and Diesel is a rarity used only by trucks - as opposed to Europe.

My source? A colleague who's just back from a vacation in LA. Apparently fuel is a lot cheaper then in Europe - why not raise the price drastically, to force the seeking of alternatives. Even if it's hybrids for the time being.

In the longer run, we're faced with or using the alternatives at hand (which are hampered by oil mafia), or nuking the hell out of eachother.
