It Wandered In From the Wastes
I was a customer of WAMU and then yesterday I'm now a customer of JPMorgan Chase.

I withdrew all of my savings and shut down my account about 2 months ago a Wells, I saw this coming.

The loss of WAMU was unfortunate... That was one of our biggest industries in Seattle and now it looks that a couple thousand will be without jobs soon...

Don't worry though, I'm sure other banks will not go tits up since the government has us paying them for our loans twice over again. Everything is right as rain, for the elite that is....

If things in US went worst than in 1929, I'd laugh if the US people went riot and declared comunism. Than the Russians would lead the cold war against the red menace

I'm thinking of buying gold with my money. Gold never loses it's value. Unless someone invents a machine that turns ordinary metal into gold...

What do you know of the Machine!

I have a wells but i dont see any reason to run from them. They were thinking about buying WAMU and the Feds insure it to 100k, and now that they passed that bill i think they upped it to 250k. If you dont think its safe with them i dont see how it could be worth anything in the event your bank does go under

then again i probably don't know enough about how it all works

All the gold in the world won't buy the last loaf of bread from a starving man.

I had 12 000$ worth of stocks in WM, and after this robbery the common share holders are left with nada...

Biggest bank failure in history and its hardly even mentioned in the media...

Would someone please explain to me what the value is in gold? It's a metal that won't corrode and is very malleable... So what? Why is this element the ultimate standard?

I think the best investment would be land that has access to clean freshwater and forests. Then you can always provide your own resources if the economy can no longer do that for you.

God you're a hippy.

Everything has a value that is determined by supply and demand. Generally speaking, gold is rare and is pretty. Because it is rare and pretty, it has a high value. Over the years gold has been used as a prestige object, and a carrier of currency. Because it had been used as such for that long, it has been attributed an intrinsic value, and therefore it has actually become valuable in and of itself.

Investing in land might seem like a good idea, but it isn't necessarily a good idea since land prices fluctuate heavily. See the recent crisis, where house-prices had apparently been overinflated. The same thing happens with land.

Gold is a very very nice conductor of electricity. Guitarists use gold pickup wires and ect, because the sound is crisp like a vinyl record, but very clean.

This is actually a myth. Well, not that guitarists use it because most of them are gullible twits. But it has never been proven that this actually has a positive effect on sound quality, and there has never been a double blind test to see that I'm aware of to see if people can hear the difference.
