Old World Blues speculation

Quagmire69

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
My guess is the rulers of the big empty will be the decendants of those responsible for the Forced Evolutionary Virus.

Give it up with the Enclave already Quagmire, they're dead and they're not coming back.

I'm not talking about he Enclave. Why on earth would the Enclave want to make more mutants? My first guess would be that the scientist were contracted by the remnats of Unity to cure mutants sterility and make a new army for them. Honestly i'm a loss for what the plots going to be.

The are but a part of the pre war government. I'm talking about the actual scientists, or maybe people who took over were they left off.

If that guess would become true, it would be so extremely stupid that my head explodes.

Therefore I doubt it would happen.

For me right now, The Big Empty seems to be more a combination of Fallout 2's EPA and early Van Buren's design idea of that area. Various things we heard about it already are ideas from back in the days. Talking toaster, changing character stats, scientific research, testlab...

I know my ideas arent the greatest but come on, at least i'm trying, its not like I have much to work with. All we know is their are some mad scientist types who are creating mutated creatures most likely usuing FEV. I can't think of anyone who would want to do that except for SM who seem unlikely considering most of them retreated to the east.

I am pretty sure the "greater threat" will be ODYSSEUS, the mad Big MT ai.

Would be interesting though if you had to team up with him/it against a 'bigger threat'.
Perhaps the AIs of Robot City in the East?

Robot City you say, is this something I can search on the Vault for, or will you divulge this upon me, cos this has caught my attention about a giant robot community.

Anyway, yeah I believe it will be about ODYSSEUS, because I seen this PS3 pre-view video and it mentioned something about the Big Empty, loads of tech, and ODYSSEUS.

Only a few tidbits Mr Krepe, and yes it can be found on the Vault Wiki.

Its apparently a city run by Artificial Intelligences located far East past Denver.
In Van Buren ODYSSEUS sought to escape the prison (being a prisoner in his own way) which it controlled and go to Robot City, while the AI's were looking for it, intending to repair ODYSSEUS and then make it their 'slave' or servant.

Most likely its a city founded by AIs created by other ones before the Great War.

I think there's a relation between Odysseus and Ulysses we'll get more info in the dlc to setup the last dlc. As for location there's a town called divide that's about the same distance as Zion and its west of area 51 and worlds largest man made crater. So I'm thinking this general area.

I will never play another fallout game again if the badguys are either plant people or giant robots.

But people in Power Armor who are US government wannabees are okay? :P

Nah, that is low but I could not resist.

Fallout has always been about human nature and its nature for destruction, even if it was not the goal.

I see AIs as an optional group of sentients next to humans and mutants for the player to interact with, but not something to be turned into the main antagonists of a Fallout game as that goes against its nature.
Of course they can always be optional antagonists during a campaign.

Plant people, well that depends in what way.
Plants that have become like humans? No way.

Human plant hybrids that wants to convert everyone else to this type of 'preferable existence', or just simply exist?
If explained well I can have an open mind.

The Spore Carriers are more like animals than humans so they don't fall under this classification.

As comic book badguys, I would be just as annoyed as you. As a more morally grey faction that you could help and maybe sympathize with now that they have moderated some of their ideas they could have some potential, not a a core faction, but simalar to the role the Brotherhood played in Vegas.

Somehow I have a feeling that this is what its going to be. They planed a sequel to tactics about the evil plant idea, and the spore carrior seems to be a step in that direction, I might even be able to live with giant robots, but not evil plants.
