As for members here, I've seen some statements here and there which shared these feelings the Dinosaur group had. But it was largely meant towards a certain group on the Bethesda forums.
But the underlying message of that post was to try and make others (who has had these feelings towards exploration over story, ridiculous setting/lulzyness, bullet sponge enemies and repetitive environments prior to OWB to) remember them if they found OWB to be great, that what they once complained about, now they praise.
The amount of misery, brutality and twisted experimentation in Big MT, the underlying theme of science gone horribly wrong, sure as hell prevented me from laughing.
Little Yangtze. Yeah, that's hilarity right there. Totally Auschwitz-style comedy. I died laughing.
Yeah I couldn't hear you over the radio where they nag about penis tipped feet. (This is not meant as a flamebait.)
There might be more to Big Empty than meets the eye, but I didn't understand some of the references and the place was too crowded with talking roboscorpions and radio chatter from a bunch of twats to really notice.
Like that, Yangtze thing, I have no idea what that is, I could look it up now but that doesn't change that I reacted to it like "meh" when I first found it.
As for the dark aspects of it, I saw some, sure, but every time I started thinking about what they were doing a nighstalker came an interrupted me.
Anyway, my point with the Fallout 2 reference way back is that, in Fallout 2 I never saw it as having a lulzy front with a deep dark atmosphere underneath.
I saw it as having a deep dark atmosphere with some lulzy moments spread around.
OWB, to me, felt like a muffin with so much frosting on it that it's as big as a cake.
The frosting is the lulzy stuff, the muffin, is the dark parts.
It's so covered in ridiculous crap that whenever something dark came up I couldn't stay focused to it, because the time between that dark past history spot and the next would be filled with talking robot scorpions and radio chatter.
Maybe it's my fault for not being able to properly separate the two elements of OWB, but the lulzy stuff and repetitive tedious and frequent enemy encounters was far too overwhelming for me to even see the other element most of the time.

Ayeah, don't get me wrong, I'm not some cynical asshole that want dreary serious stuff all the time.
I love watching Family Guy and Jackass and Viva La Bam.
But I don't want that kind of "in your face" humour in Fallout.
I expect more subtle jokes from Fallout, or even that the lulzy stuff tries to take itself seriously. But OWB didn't do that.
Like, Jack Black, he was funny at first, but now it just feels like he's making a clown of himself more and more and watching him is just depressing.
OWB felt like a hyperactive clown, desperately trying to be loved with his comedy routine.
And yeah, it was funny at first, but it pushes it's comedy too far, too fast, too hard for it to remain funny.
I saw a dark joke in Skyrim that I found funny.
It was a torture room and had lots of torture equipment in there, and I glanced over at a table and saw... An onion. That felt more subtle, a feather would also have been great, what wouldn't have been good would have been walking in on some old woman in BDSM gear spouting out dirty talk to an Argonian prisoner named "I-Like-It-Rough" who she's spanking with a paddle while the prisoner says dirty things back.
Guess which type of comedy I found OWB to fit in, the former, or the latter.
(And just for some perspective on it, I laughed my ass off at that brain who wanted me to breath for her as she got her jollies off. But it doesn't mean I found the DLC to be good for Fallout. When someone I really really really fucking hate says something funny I can still recognize a good joke when I hear one and laugh at it, doesn't mean I like her any better than I did before though.)

Is this offtopic?
I mean, erm... Discussing whether OWB is worth winning "best DLC" is still in relation with the news thread, right?
If not, sorry for offtopic'ing it.
