Zeal

Still Mildly Glowing

Not wanting to do political campaing in the forum, i just found this video surreal...

while i understand this shouldn't be downplayed and that it's an important message to carry out, he's also a total fucking retard for claiming that they're the only ones.

the whole poor victim mentality is really getting on my nerves.

Thats as ridiculous as me deciding to make my house in a Lions Den, and then complaining when the lions eat my son inside his bedroom.

The whole video is aimed at making their retaliation justified under the old ''No western democracy would ever allow missiles to be fired upon them without retaliation''.

While I agree with what they say, each missile kills something like 1 person 1% of the time. Not to mention 'retaliation' does not give you the right to go there and murder 1000 people because they killed one person on your side.

that's a very simplistic view, and an unjust one.

we're too many generations into this conflict for having a black/white view of this (hell, not even the start of this conflict was black & white).
it's just many shades of grey...

that doesn't justify the act. ;)

On a slightly related note...

Have people here been following the Israeli elections?

Conservative Netanyahu to Lead Israel

JERUSALEM (Feb. 20) - Hawkish politician Benjamin Netanyahu urged his centrist rivals to join him in a unity coalition after Israel's ceremonial president formally tapped him Friday to assemble Israel's next government.

With Livni out, Netanyahu might have little choice but to forge a coalition with nationalist and religious parties opposed to peacemaking with the Palestinians and Israel's other Arab neighbors.

To say I am pleased is a huge understatement.

yeah, i was more interested in the surreal aspect of the video, not starting a political discussion, so i will not comment on the ridiculous "proporcional" argument.

My fav part is the one the kid is making an interview and suddently CHAOS all over the place, kinda creepy and surreal. And damm, hes fast like the flash! :/

I wish the world would have cared so much about the "shades of gray" when the war in Kosovo started ...

politic these days.

I didn't find it all that surreal. People live under more extraordinary circumstances everyday throughout the world.

Also I think he stole some of the music from Spirited Away, or at least some similar anime, sounds familiar

If you were able to get past the stress of the situation and the fear of you or someone you love dying, I wonder if having rockets fired at your town every so often would help you "seize the day" in life and give you a better perspective on life.

I don't like how they HAVE TO RUB the holocaust on us ALL THE TIME, as if they were the only ones who were murdered by Hitler's insane mass killings. The Roma and the Slavs were slaughtered and they don't have the gal to rub it on our facse all the time. And nobody gave the Roma a country or anything. If anyone should rub the "genocide" card on us, its the russians.

But the palestinian situation is a mess where one side attacks the other and the other side counter-attacks and this shit has been going for sixty years. The UN should just intervene and stop this shit.

i say we reform the UN (getting rid of the neverending vetos of the USA) and form UNATCO (with soldier serving without national ties, no foreign command structure). then we send them to Israel with a "Weapons Free" rule of engagement set to suppress all and any hostile activity be it from Palestinians or Israelis. :)

that'll never work though, but it would be cool. :P

If the U.N. had UNATCO at its disposal, I'm sure they would be using it for more important things like data management and nuclear proliferation.

you got to love the "weapon free" rule of engagement. ^^

"Oh noes, think of the children!"

Why the fuck people think that everything is fine until kids aren't in the harm's way? I'm getting sick of this bullshit.

It may be an oversimplification, but that doesn't mean there isn't some truth to it.

Whether given that land or taken by force, you really can't complain when you haven't exactly found some uninhabited plot of land with no particular signigicance to build a country in.

Im not taking sides, but it annoys me when either side claims innocence or that they have a right to defend themselves. The justifications in themselves are so childish and shortsighted I wonder if there will ever be a peace there that does not involvethe utter and complete anihilation of either side.

Bal, why are you so excited for something that in no way whatsoever affetcs you even in the slightest?

The situation at Israel/Palestine are so messed up that you can either blame or support both sides....

Annoying+rarely deadly rocket attack from the Palestine and over-kill retaliation from Israel. Both can say they attack or defend themselves with the reason of fighting oppression/occupation or retaliate aggression.

Man...solving this situation will be tough.

p/s: The rocket attack part are really felt surreal

Because I am a huge supporter of Israel and the elections were a big point of interest for me.
Why do people care about the AIDs crisis in Africa or starvation in some third world country? Average Americans could live life without ever thinking about said issues but many of them make it something they care about all the same.

Considering the close ties Israel has with my country I do not think it is that odd I take such a great interest in the events and issues dealing with the country.

Netanyahu being the conservative hard liner he is was my pick for the win.

Yeah but still, I mean, even if I was an Israel supporter I would not 'rejoice' at the election of a government most likely to breach the peace, continue the bloodshed and generally prolongue the conflict for longer than it needs to.

Or do you seriously think people like Netanyahu will make make peace in the middle east any more likelier?

Sometimes I get the impression you either A: Want the conflict to last for as long as possible with as many casualties as possible or B: Want Israel to wipe clean the Palestinians off the map and have them annex their newly conquered lands.
