Overland map speed in Fallout in XP

Dustlander

First time out of the vault
In both Fallout and Fallout 2 I have encountered greatly accelerated speed whilst on the overland map. In fallout 2 it is less of a problem as the character movement is on par with the clock speed, whereas, in Fallout the basic movement speed is maintained whilst the clock is running somewhere between ten and twenty times normal speed, making it so that by the time I've moved one cell on the map I get the mission failed notice. Is there some sort of remedy available for this matter? I have the latest directx (9.0b I believe), an AMD Athlon XP 2800+, 512mb ram, and am running in 95/98 compatability. I did the largest install (as I'm lazy and have better uses for my disc drives).

Thanks,

You might wanna look for a program that slows older games down - there are plenty of those. Also, you might try adjusting the compatability of the executables(ie. Win 95, 98 etc..).

adjusting compability wont help, but yeah there are progs that slow down yer pc

search the forum, there have been many threads like this...

*just finished wading through the 700 some odd search results*

In which I found one link to a removed page. Joy. If you had any particular post in mind when you said that I would be ever so greatful if you would direct me to it.

Thanks,

The slowdown progs don't work for me. I just run it like it is.

However...

You say FO1 runs too fast? Mine runs just fine, and I don't know why.

Sorry I can't help you more, but I just wanted to reply to ask you where in AZ you live.

I haven't, but then again I'm running XP, and would have to run it in DosBox prolly, and that's really buggy on my laptop.

I have never had problems running them thanks to the P150 sitting next to this one. :P

Yeah, can't you use a DosBox, use a slow program and then start FO1?

*Tries running it in Dos*
...
Damn, no luck there. You wouldn't happen to have a link to one of those slow-down programs would you?

Thanks,

And if you can't make them work slow enough on XP (And money is no problem) buy an older secondary computer. The only reason why that P150 is still sitting next to me is that I can play almost any "old" game with it without any problems.

DoxBox is a good option.
