Almost forgot to post this; in their February issue, PC Gamer US's Dan Stapleton (who wrote the preview for the March issue) did a writeup on New Vegas as one of their top 10 most anticipated games. Said article can now be found online.
Why were we so excited to hear that the next game in the Fallout series would be developed by Obsidian rather than the franchise's current home, Bethesda? Game trivia: the original creators of Fallout: A Post-Nuclear Role-Playing Game and Fallout 2 worked at the Interplay-owned Black Isle Studios. When Interplay effectively shut down, many Black Isle employees, including studio head Feargus Urquhart, bailed and founded Obsidian in 2003. Obsidian's resume includes strong RPG games like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, Neverwinter Nights 2 and the upcoming Alpha Protocol. While not all of the brains behind Fallout reside at Obsidian, an injection of original Black Isle mojo is outstanding news. If we had to bet on anybody to surpass 2008's incredibly Fallout 3, it'd be these guys. - Dan Stapleton

You don’t have to be psychic (or even particularly bright) to see that 2010 is going to be one of the biggest, most exciting years in PC gaming history.
I guess I'm a retard then because I see few games that can be good, have the potential, but there's nothing OMG BESTEST YEAR EVAR about it.
I guess I can't hype for shit.
I like the way they describe me2 though.
A DARKER, GRITTIER SPACE OPERA
HOLY BUTTS! It's like my 15 again and my adolescence is kicking in!

Also, that god damn slut with her ASS.
SLUT

It's fairly high on my list of "anticipated games" but I'm still a tad wary, as the Gamebryo engine hasn't done well in Beth's games (I know this won't technically be Beth's game, but it'll still feel like FO3 did).

So this Vault Boy face is supposed to be original ingame art?

please tell me you're not actually going to bawwwwww about that fucking Vault Boy face. :|

also: this is, hilariously, the first piece of news regarding a new Fallout game which i can actually say "yes, agreed" to.

I think I'm looking forward to Alpha Protocol more than NV, if only because I know what to expect from NV.

hmm his right eye brow is floating in the air

My vault boy is cooler.

I'm awaiting for RP 1.3 more than NV.
Although RP is probably a 2011 release ;)

Hmm, I always thought that New Vegas isn't really that popular. And way less popular than Fallout 3. Not to the degree "just another game coming out", but yet way less popular than needed to get in a "top 100 anticipated 2010 games" list.

So far it's the game I'm most looking forward to this year. Which is a pretty harsh indictment on the state of gaming ATM...

Finally, someone that knows about the originals.
Agreed, at least these guys know what the hell they're talking about - instead of shitting their pants that the Fallout franchise has gone into an untrustworthy developer's hands.

Fallout: New Vegas is the only game I'm looking forward to this year. But, truth be told, I don't really play many games as of recently and haven't been following any gaming news (except news from NMA).

So, why wouldn't New Vegas be among the "Most Anticipated"? I recall that Fallout 3 did quite well in the market, gained a lot of recognition to the Fallout franchise, and picked up quite a good number of new fans that love Fallout 3. Why wouldn't a new game be anticipated, especially one so much like the commercial success that was/is Fallout 3.

So far Bethesda seems to treat it like one of their own games, which means it will probably be one of the biggest releases of this fall with insane amounts of hype.

i hope they at least fix the AI and the non vats gunplay or better yet use the call of duty/borderlands style shooting where when you aim you look down the gun sights. I mean its an fpsrpg it's not a sin to make the players real life skill count for something.
