Does anyone know anything about this game. It is listed as coming from Sierra but they deny knowledge of it. I'm waiting to hear from Interplay but for now... can anyone tell me something... I've got the current three games Fallout 1/2 and FOT but I'd love something for my console.

thanks

RE: Playstation 2... upcoming game Fallout: Brotherhood of S

Probably another rumor started by yet another clueless gaming magazine. It would have hit the Fallout news sites through several sources before this, and this has been the first I've seen of it. The fact that Sierra is said to be the publisher throws all credibility of such a rumor out of the window.

Frankly, to put it on PS2, it would have to have a SHITLOAD of work done on it to port.

You know something... just because you've never heard of it doesn't make it not so. If you check Gamefaqs you'll see it and as well Electronic Boutique offers it for sale. I'm not saying it exists but I'm also not allowing that it is vapourware. You jump to conclusions swiftly friend.

I have contacts in both MicroForté and Interplay, much like most people in the fan followings of games/developers. So I would hear if it were upcoming and in development. It's also really obvious that it would take a lot of effort to alter the Fallout Tactics source for the PS2, not to mention the controls for it would be a COMPLETE bitch to do for console (I really would have thought that would be obvious).

Your statement is also a load of crap given that EB has had Fallout 3 on pre-order now and then in the past. There's also been about a dozen magazines that have published release dates for Fallout 3 in the past as well. Maybe just they know Fallout 3 is in development. *rolls eyes*

CJayC probably added it probably because of a rumor, sometimes like a lot of other games.

In addition, I could point out the fact that the developers/publishers would contact one of the oldest (if not THE oldest) FAN SITES of the Fallout franchise with the news to promote word of mouth. But that should have been obvious.

RE: Playstation 2... upcoming game Fallout: Brotherhood of S

You are absolutely right. I'm sure that any company putting out a game such as this for the PS2 console would let potential fans know of another venue to play the Fallout Universe in. With that being said and with your admitted inside ear to the heartbeat of the gaming industry... ask around and let a vastly interested individual know if this is in fact...fiction.

You do that and I'll bind and gag myself over in "Fallout Tactics is great" and I'll even read all the posts in every area that I intend to post in... just so as to not inflame the delicate dispositions of the elderly board members such as yourself. Post the links and such so that I can look it up... cause i"m replaying Fallout 2 now... just want to see what all the deathclaw fuss is about.

thanks... a thoroughly chastened for now Mike

First, you might want to do a little research with the computer in the Glow and numerous other sources in the original Fallout game. More info is contained in that game about its roots, I would have thought.

Being a wise-ass about lurking (and lying about it to add to the affront) in addition with other netiquette points isn't going to help your credibility much. You decided to post carelessly into a thread about a topic which included a number of references, posted into a manner that made it clearly evident that there was problems with Fallout Tactics.

Again, you might want to do a little research on "fact" and "opinion", especially when it was phrased in the way both the original topic poster and yourself put it into.

RE: Playstation 2... upcoming game Fallout: Brotherhood of S

As Rosh mentioned, the fact that Sierra is supposedly producing this, gives us a very good point as to the credebility of this 'rumor'. Ip owns the Fallout license, they own the special system, so it's very unlikely that they are going to give another producer (read competitor) the permission to come out with such a game.

Fallout on the PS2, ugh. And Sierra making it? HAHAHHAHAHAHHA. No. Where do these game websites get their info? The National Enquirer?

Not much anymore. Bishop and a lot of others in BIS are getting a substantial amount of heat, as deserving when they lie (as has been going on with those chimps). It's also fairly inconclusive until the publisher/developer posts up more information.

Now, that aside, this game looks like utter shit.

RE: Playstation 2... upcoming game Fallout: Brotherhood of S

That means shit, amigo.
They are treading in lands of stupidity.

Yes... they might not be making it the way you think it should be but so what... you don't have to buy it. If you're worried about someone sullying the great name of the game... people who play them know... they are good... and if someone likes this game... then they'll try the originals. Anyways... have a good day...

First off, write in something that appears halfway legible, not that shit.

As for the points in your e-mail, I'll have to direct you again to Fallout Tactics and how the same spin was done on that. I must also inform you that the console market is often a bit more fierce, and how shitty this game looks, it will most likely tank when put up against other games. They've already lobotomized out most of what made Fallout what it was, making it exactly like how X-COM went down.

And therefore marketing will look at the failure and say that Fallout is unprofitable on both PC and consoles, without having an idea about why it really went down. Therefore, the likelihood of any Fallout games will be slim.

Congratulations for being a moron, again. Please try to think next time.

PS: Good job in fucking up your e-mail subject. Re-read it again if you need to.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Mar-13-03 AT 02:39AM (GMT)]It is curious how the fans almost always seem to know just a *little* bit more about some aspects of games than the people making them. It always amazed me. In this case, it just seems strange how the developers of the game have failed to read all of the "good" comments and suggestions about future Fallout games...

Well, in this case, there's people who have been in the industry for a long time, plus those who have been around it for a long time. It doesn't take too much to see what is a good or bad thing, especially when the marketing dept of that company is so unbelievably inbred, it isn't funny. As I noted on RPGCodex, it appears the marketing people in gaming are the refuse from other, more successful industries. Deathy started up a thread on this subject there, too.

>In this case, it

They take the stupid people in marketing seriously.

Practical Marketing: See what niche needs to be filled and try to fill it.
Inbred Gaming Marketing Dept Logic: See the success of others and try to copy it nearly verbatim.

RE: Playstation 2... upcoming game Fallout: Brotherhood of S

Oh my gosh...

Rosh, how do you feel about this whole thing? I mean, I thought you knew you were talking about, but apparently even experts get curve balls I guess.

>Oh my gosh...

>Rosh, how do you feel about this whole thing?

Not really surprised. IPLY has to go a long distance to surpass this level of stupid. I guess the best thing for them in the future, if they ever do get there, would be "Hey...remember Fallout on the consoles?" much like people reminisce of Daikatana's release.

>I mean, I
>thought you knew you were talking about, but apparently even
>experts get curve balls I guess.

To put it frankly, IPLY is a chaotic mess. News is unreliable from there, especially when job security might be a bit questionable. All I had gotten was that there was a game like the one in question in the works, but there wasn't an official title put to it yet, or for that matter, anything about the setting at all. It was really unfixed. It now appears that Fallout suddenly became the prison bitch because of the poll results.

I guess winning those polls wasn't such a good thing, eh?

RE: Playstation 2... upcoming game Fallout: Brotherhood of S

I was actually looking up some info on the possible BG:D.A. sequel when I stumbled across this. I love PS2, I love Fallout, and I like the idea. Supposedly it's multiplayer co-op, with a D.A. flare to it, which all sounds great to me. The only doubt in my mind is the fear of it being just like the atrocity that was Tactics. I think I might approach this very precariously to save myself grief in the future.

Analogy: Fire and water don't mix, for one will conquer the other, but how will the winner turn out after the war.(pretty sucky, I know)

RE: Playstation 2... upcoming game Fallout: Brotherhood of S

Just do a look of the features and also at the screenshits. They are taking it away from Fallout, especially from the character system. Essentially, nothing that is Fallout remains, except for some of the looks.

So basically, save your money and buy King's Feield or Xenogears.

and after all the help that you gave to the programmers for Tactics and they still fucked up... how dare they ignore someone who is so seasoned as you... jeeze... sucks eh... well... I liked Tactics and if you didn't... sucks to be you... if this game sucks coming out... oh well... I'll rent it and try first before I buy... but I'm not a blind know it all fool like you... I'm willing to wait for the game to die before burying it... unlike you.
