PS3 owners to remain stuck at Fo3 endgame

MTV Multiplayer wanted to find out if the lack of PS3 DLC will mean that PS3 owners will also miss out on the ability to keep playing after you finish the main quest.
When the credits roll in “Fallout 3,” the game ends. You might have dozens of unfinished side quests, but unless you boot an old save, you can’t access them. Bethesda Softworks is changing that with “Fallout 3″’s downloadable content, which gives players the ability to keep playing.

That’s fantastic news if you’re an Xbox 360 or PC gamer, but what if you’re playing on PlayStation 3? Bethesda’s acknowledged the omission demands correcting, but if the downloadable content is only coming to Xbox 360 and PC…does that mean PS3 users won’t ever receive this fan-demanded feature?

We got in touch with “Fallout 3″ executive producer Todd Howard for an answer. So, is post-ending adventuring something Bethesda is considering for PS3 players?

“Not at this time, no,” said Howard.

I would probably be upset if I was a PS3 owner. However, given Beth's history, survey says there will be a "GotY" edition later in the year that includes all of the major official DLCs. I doubt PS3 people need to despair too much.

Or you can do what I did: I sold my XBox 360 and all of the accessories just so that I could build a $500 PC, for no other reason than for mods.

This one is kind of puzzling (at least for me)

Bethesda did exceptionally well marketing-wise. The hype, an army of bos soldiers statues, the launch party, "t3h rev1ewz" with an average rating of "OMGLOLAWESUMZ", DLC etc. etc.

But “Not at this time, no,” is not something you say to a large part of your fanbase. It's actually not wise to differentiate your fanbase at all in this case.

Which is why I don't get it
Why?

They just need to pay for the game again?

The same reason Rockstar Games did it with GTA 4. Because microsoft payed them a bunch of money to leave playstation owners out in the cold.

Microsoft is willing to do whatever it takes to maintain and expand their market share, even if it means losing money in the current generation.

A Win-Win situation for Bethesda! Not only can they sell the DLC that way but also the game 2 times! To the same people. The dream of every buisnessmen.

I still think Bethesda should have released the "play after the mainquest" with a patch for every console and for "free". I can remenber times when companies used to release aditional stuff on CDs and sometimes even free content with gaming magazines. I know the Witchers free content is a bit overhyped but still its free afterall which cant be said about anything Bethesda has released.

Well Bethesda warned/said there would be no DLC for PS3 before releasing the game.... if you went ahead and bought it nonetheless, well my friend, you have no right to complain.

You missed the part where that wasn't the news.

The fact that they're charging people to get the end of the game they should have shipped with, speaks volumes about how Bethesda is as a company.

Charging people money for the ending they should have gotten the first time around. Pathetic.

Well at least on the PC you have the luck that you can "fix" many things without a need to pay anything to Bethesda

Sucks for console gamers, and sucks even more for PS3 owners.
Pretty a-holish of bethesda to not give PS3 DLC.

Well, at least i have PC.
Maybe i can try to "fix" fallout 3.
now where is my woodchopper ?

Erm.... yeah. And you missed the part where you read my post.

PS3 gamers knew beforehand there would be no DLC for them, by extension Beth was saying they weren't going to give priority to PS3 nor produce new content/add features... now the news is there won't be DLC to allow PS3 gamers to continue fter the endgame... which was to be expected given the lack of support for PS3. But whatever man.

yup, most probably, but i wonder if they will fix the graphic issues on the ps3 too by that time, the graphics looked good on the PC, shitty on the 360 and even shittier on the ps3!

I own both a pc (obvious) and PS3. Good for me, that I had bought PC version. Otherwise I would be pretty f***** now. Another point for Bethesda!

I dont know why you guys have such issues with it!

Think about it YOU would be a buisness men, care about money calling it your 'God' and have to worry how to pay for the Diablo SV you want for X-Mas or the new set for your bathroom out of african (illegal) mahogany and italian white marble (which Michelange already used for his sculptures) with this fancy golden figot your wife keeps talking about all the day.

You would as well sleep with ... I mean make exclusives with Microsoft and later release a Goty Edition for Fallout 3 so every PS3 owner can "buy" the game a second time :P

Buisness as its finest! The System works
