Puuk talks about CRPGs

Kaczor informed me of a new article at GameBanshee, this article is Damien 'Puuk' Foletto talking about PC vs Consoles the RPG aspect of it and he of course talks about Fallout:
Quietly, yet hot on the heals of a reborn PCRPG market came another game that would prove that PCRPG's could not only be fun, but also open-ended, thought provoking, and provide a pretty accurate model for displaying consequences for one's actions. Fallout took gamers out of the dungeons of old and slapped them into a subtly campy, 1950's interpretation of a post-apocalyptic future where the player was tasked with a basic endeavor' survival. But it was not only his survival he had to worry about, but the survival of his fellow vault dwellers. Moral choices were strewn throughout the wasteland and the player could tackle quests in pretty much any way they saw fit. Fallout was a true role-playing game and fans of the genre could not have been more pleased.
And he also draws some strange strings together, but all in all it's a good read.

quote from the article:
"Sometimes it takes a lull before that one breakout hit surfaces to reignite the PCRPG genre. All it takes is a publisher and developer to think outside the box and not put all their eggs in one basket – be it solely console or solely PC."

gee, I wonder what he was referring to here?

Nice article Puuk, lets hope The Fall is the breakout hit you, I and everyone on this forum wants it to be.

Agreed, it would be nice to see he gets a hit, rather then a shaft up the a$$, as he's been getting recently.

Hey, it's exit only, pal! :P

To be accurate I have been more pleased with Fallout 2 (just my two cents).

Oh, and does Darth Molester know anything with sh*t jelly instead of brain ?

Edit: Fixed some stupid comment, see post below what was it >.<

Wow, what a modesty ! Hehe.

Considering he never worked on Fallout, there's nothing modest about it. Now, if he'd have said, Since IWD2, fans could not have been more pleased, then you could make a comment about modesty.

SMACK DOWN!

SMACK DOWN!

Yah, Pro Wrestlin' is the modern 'carnation of the morality plays of yor.

As valid an entertainment vehicle as any.

As high a theater as some will ever care to know.

And they got to do their own stunt work before live audiences. Circus
act or not, being body slammed has got to take practice, or you'll miss your next cue, unless it's the LAST body slam.

And this end of the PC's will only happen when your girl friend can do WORD and EXCEL on your P-S-X-Y-Z-Crockpot, "slow cooks while you work!" Consoles are still aspiring to emulate the most lucrative aspects of PC's. Meanwhile in the next room. Expect Windows to muscle in just to keep Linux at bay.
{MS has extended it's support for Win98 and ME, wonder if it was the move of some businesses to Linux, couldn't have been the plea of the less wealthy markets on the planet.}

Market cycles are as real a rotation as any other phenomenon.

Market cycles are as real a rotation as any other phenomenon.
And I think it's rather rhetorical, or, nay, THEATRICAL when we pontificate ""THE END"" of anything outside of our last beer.

This grim fortune telling can be exploited to make one's point, but only
a serious tunnel vision mindset will not allow the stage entrance of the "next NEW th'ang".

I still don't know what the hell you are talking about.

Most people don't. It takes a while to get used to 4too's rather unique writing style

Once you get used to it, tho', you'll see the man's a genius

If you say so Kharn, however I have actually understood his posts up until this one....

It's weird, and I can usually grasp unusual text styles.

And I agree on the genious part. He usually does express himself well (a little cryptic, but understandable).

Whereas i am skeptical of people who are supposedly hidden talents. it's like gromnir. the man's a pompous asshole yet everyone worships him because he's arrogant enough to write in baby language in all his posts, and stupid enough to think that makes him superior.

I agree with you about Gromnir, Teatime. The difference is 4too isn't a pompous ass, never trolls, and writes in a cryptic/poetic style as opposed to Retard Il-Khan's poorly thought out and poorly acted "character". Well, there's also the fact that 4too actually contributes to a discussion, and as Kharn said, once you get used to his way of writing the stuff he writes is pretty incredible. At first I thought 4too was some crazy russian who ran his posts through Babelfish (no offense 4too!), but I've grown to appreciate and look forward to his posts.
