my character has a perception of 10--will the sharpshooter perk effectively raise that to 12 for ranged combat? Or am I just wasting a perk?

Good, thanks. By the way, are you the one who designed the EYM trainer? If so, it doesn't seem to be working with version 1.25...any ideas? I normally don't like to cheat, but the warp function really cuts down on boring romps through already-tamed land. Thanks for the tool and the advice!

Sharpshooter I think is useless if you have 10 perception..

this is a major portion of the game I hate, is that the weapon's range limit is way too restricting, if you have 8 perception, take sharpshooter, then with 150% weapon skill, you can shoot 95% range near the limit of the weapon's range, beyond that, 14 perception and 2 sharpshooter does not help you since you get a big stupid X for out of weapon's range

Tactics BLOWS !!

Wish it played like JA2. I guess in the strange world of fallout tactics, the ballistic arc is such that bullets are programmed to head straight for the ground upon reaching maximum range.

I'm not so sure that's true. My weapon skill is over 150% (perception 10, sharpshooter 1) and I'm still getting very subtle percentage gradations as I move about at long range. Also, I appear (don't quote me on this, mind you) to be getting better damage results from closer ranges.

Even though I have significant doubts, I sincerely hope I am right and you are wrong...it would be much better that way. I'm wondering if there is anyone who knows definitively how the system works and is willing to tell.

Well, as someone posted before, it is all about modifiers. IIAC, the game caps your chance to hit @ 95% after all modifiers. That means that with high PE/Skill you will be able to get 95% chance for an aimed shot at extreme range.

BOOOOO! :)

I understand that, but does it have any other advantages besides to hit? My very unscientific (and possibly overly optimistic) observation tells me that it does, i.e. more damage and more chance of criticals. In other words, one character's 95% can be significantly more advantageous than another's.

Again, I'm probably wrong, but noone has offered me proof yet that I am.

Unscientific comment:
My first char:
PE 10
AG 8
ST 6
LK 5
IN 6
EN 6
CH 6
Second:
PE 10
AG 10
ST 6
LK 5
IN 6
EN 5
CH 5
Third:
PE 8
AG 8
ST 6
IN 6
CH 8
EN 6
LK 5

All char were taken to St Louis.
I'm having more fun with the last one, difference? well perhaps. Only thing I did notice is EN 5 got me radiated and poisoned in the Micro Fusion mission but 6 didn't, and when I had 5 in EN I had PE 10 and AG 10, that should change sequence, I didn't noticed anything.

Why did you pu 8 point in charisma??

i use CH 2

The rest i use in IN 7 EN 8 and LU 8
