-bretons, redguards, and nords should be merged into bretons and exist as different cultures

-high elves and orcs affect Tamriel but are single gimmicks and should exist as groups within dark elves or bretons

-imperials should just be bretons that decided to create an empire for resources

-dwarves should be brought back and be a playable race because dwarves are awesome in it

-khajits and argonians should have their identities merged into wood elves I think
 

It's much more interesting to have 5 races or so with a bunch of different political conflicts, motivations, and identities than to have each identity causing an entire new species which results in 30 different races but they're very one dimensional in the setting.

If you look at the Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall. It's a very mundane/tolkien setting involving mostly just bretons and redguards yet it's one of the more interesting settings in the Bethesda games because you have all of these different major powers, guilds, and religions that actually interact with each other creating interesting conflicts for me to think about.
 
Nords are very culturally distinct from Bretons and are physically distinct as well. Redguards are also very culturally distinct (it's just that practically none of the games ever really explore this in any great depth) and are obviously physically distinct as well. Bretons themselves are quite possibly part mer, something none of the other races of man can really lay claim to. Glomming them all together into one category just doesn't make much sense to me.

Also, grouping Orsimer in with Bretons makes no sense at all. Orcs are definitely mer and have a very distinct culture and physiology consistent with other mer.

EDIT: And while there is reason to believe Khajiit may be related to mer, Argonians are their own weird thing and since there is no love lost between Argonians and mer grouping them together is asking for all kinds of internecine conflicts.

Not only do you want them to undermine the framework of the world, you also want them to purposely ignore other major decisions? Like, I know Bethesda doesn't do their best to stay true to the way they've written the world out (just look at the landscape and cities of Oblivion and Skyrim) but why would you want them to just throw it ALL out of the window?
Beyond the one surviving member in Morrowind, the dwemer are gone. It's going to take a good explanation to not sound like a shoehorned excuse to shove dwarves back in.
 
Merging the races like this seems unnecessarily disruptive to the lore with no actual benefit... Like, seriously... "merging" Bosmer with Argonians? First of all that wouldn't work without retconning the entirety of the lore, and secondly it wipes away the distinct cultures of two of the most interesting races of Tamriel (look up "Green Pact," "Wild Hunt," and "Hist" if you are unfamiliar with these aspects of the lore). Sorry, but this is just unreasonable.

I can only assume this is a joke.

So you want to rewrite the entire setting, lore, and mythology.
Just play something else.
 
They all have their own unique lore, their own history, origins, myths, culture... If Bethesda did one thing well it's fleshing out all the races equally.

Mainly because it was done before Todd was Godd.
 
I was mostly suggesting because it seems a lot of races are very unfleshed out compared to other races.
This simply isn't true. If you read up on the races on a site like UESP or even read the in game books you would know that the amount of lore behind every race borders on overwhelming... I suggest spending some free time on it, as some of that stuff is incredibly creative.
 
Try out the second game of the series daggerfall actually
Played it quite a bit of course. I rank it second after Morrowind, mostly because while Daggerfall is supremely ambitious, it's too ambitious for its time and tech. In the end it's mostly a glorified dungeon crawler despite its glorious RPG system and overwhelming world.
