The new Resident Evil video game depicts a white man in what appears to be Africa killing Black people. The Black people are supposed to be zombies and the white man’s job is to destroy them and save humanity. “I have a job to do and I’m gonna see it through.”

This is problematic on so many levels, including the depiction of Black people as inhuman savages, the killing of Black people by a white man in military clothing, and the fact that this video game is marketed to children and young adults. Start them young… fearing, hating, and destroying Black people.

Actually, all the zombies should come in variant shades of putrid green, IMO.
 
Well while we're at it, as a Spaniard by heritage I was deeply offended by Resident Evil 4's depiction of the inhabitants of a Spanish village as bloodthirsty savages being killed by an Anglo-American.
 
As was I! But I was more offended by Resident Evil 1, which took place in <s>England or some shit</s> Raccoon City, city of my birth, where I tell you what, we have no zombies. Totally fictional, and abusive of the great Raccoon City.

Anything that pisses off the "good" Rev. Jackson and Al Sharpton makes me happy.

Al Sharpton is a complete piece of shit. He came to the St. Louis area last year to pull the race card about the absence of electrical repairs done in the black community. My dad (Lineman) claimed that was total bullshit, that the work was spread evenly because the crews are assigned separate districts. However, for some reason, tools would magically disappear from the work trucks while the linemen were working on the poles in the districts Sharpton was complaining about. Stealing from the people that help you, how awesome is that? :roll:

Edit: Watched the video. The game looks awesome, especially since you can punch a zombie in the face now.
Much better than Leon's flaming kicks and super duplexes.
 
It was only a matter of time. The people who cry racism obviously looked past the last RE game, and the history of RE in general. They say it's targeted towards children? It's a mature rated title, They can't even get the demographic of the game right so what does that say about their research of the topic?
 
Calling this 'racist' is just like calling the Mogadishu mission, a take at a recovery of crewmembers of a helicopter gone totally wrong, racist as well: Totally bullshit. Perhaps the Reverend and his lackeys should realize that they are different from their 'boys' on that continent now, too much influence from the white man. They have democracy and work unions, real Africans have AK-47's and AIDS. :P

People like Jack Thompson have the thought that "Video game = children game", no matter what the platforms are.

Or I blame the sales on console game for making people think of console = kiddie toys. That's why game developer should stop making game for console :mrgreen:
 
So they choose to expand the Resident Evil Series (a nice idea since the series was getting very generic and similar the farther it went) and here they decide that's racist? Seriously their just scaring away a good game decision.

Hey in my latest game of Civilization IV I (as Rome) destroyed Ethiopia on the 15th turn (silly AI leaving it's only city undefended).

Does that make me racist? :aiee:

Im really not suprised at all about this article. It makes me sick,but Im not suprised. The stupid fuck probably saw the news for the game and made a conclusion based on little facts or knowledge about the game. Which is typical of most politicans in my opinion.

They were killing white people in the first 3 resident evil games, but now there's a black man OH MY GOD STOP THE PRESSES!

there were black zombies in RE2 if I'm not mistaken.

as for RE4, what's wrong with the fictional village of psycho people? they've obviously been brainwashed to be psycho, if there were born that way I doubt they'd have the brainpower to construct an apparent self sufficient township.

But anyways, it is obviously complete nonsense for anyone to cry racism because god forbid that somebody makes a game that takes place in Africa have, you know... black people. I mean sheesh what's next... white people in Europe? What a crazy idea.

Maybe if the plot of the game was "Chris Redfield, after digging into his family tree and realizing he's a direct descendant of Hitler's thrice-removed cousin, goes to Africa and shoots up those damn black jews," then I could understand.

Also, I thoroughly enjoyed RE4 both on the 'Cube and more recently on the Wii, and RE5 is looking quite awesome. Can't wait.
