First time out of the vault
Hey I did a quick search but came up empty, I just downloaded the RP for fallout 2 and have been trying to change the ddraw thing like the read me says, make the graphics value 4. However I can't save the file or anything. I'm not the most computer literate person and as of now the only thing i can open the ddraw is with notepad. When I try to save it it says access denied.

What do I do?

And like I said before, I am NOT the most computer literate person on the planet, as in knows jack about anything other than pointing and clicking.
 
What is your operating system?
Is Fallout 2 installed to C:\Program Files\...? If so, you have to reinstall and change the folder to something else. Otherwise you will run into serious problems later on.
If that is not the case, the file might just be write-protected. Right-click on the file and select properties. Untick the box where it says read-only. Apply the changes. Try to edit it again.

But - I can't stress this enough - if the game is located anywhere in C:\Program Files\, you have to reinstall elsewhere.
 
Thanks guys, I'll go to the topic Pixote linked. Bux, I run Windows 7, and its installed on C:\program files (x86), should I change it as you suggested, and where would you actually put it if I still should change it.

Yes, uninstall and reinstall anywhere but there. C:\Fallout 2\ or C:\Games\Fallout 2\ will do just fine.
 
Alright, hopefully I wont need to uninstall all my fallouts to do so, I got the trilogy pack. Thanks.
 
You might want to, just to be safe. Many old games have issues with Windows' folder protection.
