Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 is....

...just like Rainbow Six: Vegas 1, really. Only a bit better.

The game itself is like I said, more Vegas, sure you can sprint, the enemies are a bit smarter, there are more weapons, and now you can actually put your own ugly webcammed mug on the singleplayer character. But other than that not much has changed. Except the system requirements and the load times which utterly suck now.

But the slightly revamped coop is fun as all hell and my boxxorz started roxxoring when I realized that they've used a few classic R6 maps like Presidio, Oil Refinery and Import/Export in both single and multiplayer. Honestly these maps are perfect for terrorist hunt, and you can see how much the people who used to do R6 were better then the current bunch.

Which leads me to my next point: Although great fun, especially in MP, Vegas 2, just like Vegas should not have been a Rainbow Six game. It's basically a normal shooter with realistic weapons and a cover system, but that hardly makes a tactical shooter like Raven Shield was. It's too bad, really.

Especially that this year will be the 10th anniversary of the Rainbow Six series...

How 'bout a real sequel to Raven Shield UBI?

Yup, the huge gap between Vegas and the good old R6 is strange. I guess it's part of the whole gaming dumb-down trend. Sad.

Thats how I felt about Vegas. The stuff you can do in it are pretty neat, but it is in no way a Rainbow Six game. The only relatively new game which is like Rainbow Six is probably Swat 4.

Thanks for posting this though. I was thinking about getting Vegas 2 but it looks pretty much the same as Vegas 1...And what sucks is the fact that they don't want to release the SDK. So no new maps :(

Well, apparently people are seriously improving their framerates and fixing other bugs in this game by lowering the hardware sound slider to "off" in DirectX. I've tried it myself and as far as I can see it does run smoother.

May be you are more interested in this one:

Heh, yeah, seems like Blackfoot Studios was involved only in making the absolute worst game in all the Tom Clancy franchises: Rainbow Six: Lockdown. I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Do not forget that they supposedly have one the designers of Infiltration mod among their ranks. And that is the most realistic shooting game out there. Period.

I liked it. If I want tactical I play SWAT 4. Vegas 2 was fun from beginning to end, and that's all, a fun shooter.

But there is 100000 fun shooters and... and.... 6 tactical shooters like SWAT 4. And the autoregeneration kills me.

Black Foot involved in LockDown?. But they only made 1 or two levels, I think.

Yeah, that is exactly what I was thinking. I wonder if anybody still plays Raven Shield online.
