In Fallout 2, some of the places are *really* *real* places in *real* California. For instance Navarro is a town in CA, and so is Klamath... Interesting...

Klamath Falls is in Oregon and is considerably north of it’s depiction, taking into account the fact that the nearest large mountains and canyons are southwest (in California) and not west.
Yeah, and not only the places are real names of real places, but for example Valdez (from PMV Valdez) is a place in Canada, if i remember correctly.Used to have a list of these (quite big, too) but not anymore, and it's been a while since i last played so i can't remember 'em all

L.A., aka the Boneyard, is a real place too. I know you might not believe me; because it's such a small & unknown place, but it is there.
Another one, is San Francisco. It took me forever to find the actual city it was referring to, but I did. And the city was, aww, hell, like you care anyways.

It has most of the places in FO, placed to where they really are. Some fictional locations may not be accurate, but those that are real places should be on the right spots.
Also, I'm a HL fan so I added the possible location of the Black Mesa Facility to the map too...
