Restoring Ulysses as a companion in the maingame - worth it?

I have played with the thoughts of Ulysses being back in the maingame as it was intended. You would basically be able to ask him if he wants to follow you after you have completed LR in a "peaceful" way. He would then give basic dialogs depending on what quests you do and would be neutral towards NCR/Legion etc. He would also constantly remind you of the importance of the Hoover Dam battle.

Ofcourse, he would not be voiced, but some barking/idle lines could be taken from LR.

Would that be possible in some way? Or too hard/difficult to implement because of the many variables etc...

Maybe someone with more experience in the GECK would be interested in helping doing that? I only know basic dialog writing, and even just with the FO3 GECk (I believe they changed some things?). I would need someone to show me, how to reference variables and quest flags in the dialogs to make it work like intended. Also - maybe we could brainstorm on what occasions some new dialog would be unlocked in this thread here?

Anyway, first - as in the title - would it be worth it at all?
 
There are mods already who add him as a companion.

Not the way it was meaned to be originaly, though. When Obsidian removed him from the game files, hey had been very efficient. As far as I could see, there is no dialogue, trigger or script remaining in the game that can be connected to Ulysses in whatever kind of way. So if you would want to create such a mod, you would need to write everything on your own-- also all hooks into the main games story, etc. It's like a totally new mod then in any case. Especially because we have no details about how exactly Ulysses would come into play.

For me personally-- I don't think it's worth the work.
 
I'd like that. Sucks that none of the companions really approve of going Legion. (except Lily?)

Not entirely true, Raul seems to mildly approve of the Legion's actions.
 
I generally don't play a Legion oriented Courier, but a mod like that, if it was big enough and well designed, might make it worthwhile. There's lots of room on the east side of the Colorado river. But, that would require altering some of the landscape.
 
I LOVED my Legion file (Ulixes Canus).

You're right I forgot about Raul.

Arizona Killer and We Are Legion were some of my favorite quests. ARCHIMEDES BITCH
