And if Palin can't run her own family, how the fuck is she supposed to be able to run the country if McCain (72 and cancer survivor) croaks?
What a bullshit line of reasoning.
I'm not really an Obama-fan, but what he said about leaving people's families the fuck alone, since it has zero to do with politics (it really doesn't), is spot on. Quit buying into stupid-ass rumors about her down-syndrome kid secretly being her 17-year old daughter's. Even if it is true, what business is it of anyone's but her and her family's? Has zero to do with her ability to perform the duties of the VP. You could rightly point out her lack of experience, but then... Obama isn't exactly super-qualified, and he's the Presidential canidate.
Generally speaking I agree.
Only problem is- what happens when you bring out family for political use if its beneficial. If you are going to say that her daughter is doing the noble thing by not aborting a child..
(and in the process ignore the fact that most girls who have children before college are frequently left with broken homes, few career opportunities, and live in poverty- or see much of the Christian South) ....
-- then doesn't it also go the other way?
Doesn't the candidate's or the party's decision to make the person's character part of the political game mean that Palin's family becomes open to criticism as well?
In law, a defendant doesn't have to take the stand. But if they do, they put their character at issue. This is politics, and this woman might be president of the US. So yeah, her character and judgment are at issue.
If you applaud her for raising her child not to abort the child, can't you criticize her for raising a child who engaged in underage sex with a fellow minor?
Doesn't that go to the question of her capacity to manage and lead? Afterall, if your daughter doesn't buy your bullshit, why will the country?
Don't get me wrong- I'm loving this. The Republican campaign to get kids to abstain from sex (Nancy Reagan- "just say No!") was always an ass kiss to Christian conservatives that didn't work. Now we have high school girls who say, "Oh, I won't lose my virginity, but you can fuck me up the ass and then I'll suck your dick" in record numbers. Oh... policy success there!
So failed policy there to appeal to christian conservatives. Now we have a candidate to appeal to Christian conservatives who's own daughter points out to the failure of a Republican ass kiss policy.
What hypocritical bullshit.
This is golden. I love this.
But I haven't made any comments about having a Down's Syndrome child. Frankly, I think that's great. Maybe if she gets elected she'll change a policy to be more favorable to underage mothers or mothers that have to carry the costs of raising children with handicaps.
Nor did I make mention of her lack of experience. Although comparing her experience with other potential candidates with more and better experience makes you wonder what kind of President McCain will be.
If picking the VP is the first major presidential decision, that's the best he could do?
That she was going to pick Lieberman, despite all the other Republican hopefuls, and then dumps them all for a relative unknown from Alaska?
Hey, but you know, as governor of Alaska she has national security/ foreign policy experience defending the US from Russia....
You know, the Republicans may try to shovel shit down your mouth and will ask you smile and play along, but you don't have to. And it doesn't make you less American or Christian- although the Republicans may disagree.
Hey- is that Oz getting his ass kicked by the stormtroopers?
