Savegame corruption

NFSreloaded

Still Mildly Glowing
Not really a question since I already deleted all savegames and reinstalled the game in my sudden burst of RAGE (lol), but posted here anyway just to be safe.

So, I just installed Point Lookout to see what this DLC was exactly about and started the game. I clicked Continue as usual, the savegame loaded and... the game crashed to desktop. Restarted the game, tried the other savegames (I had saved on four slots) and every savegame (even without the Point Lookout DLC) made the game crash. Apparently ALL savegames were corrupted, so I could kiss my lvl 23 ''Shepherd'' goodbye, with which I pretty much explored the whole wasteland (except for Point Lookout and Broken Steel). :?

Seriously, did anyone else get screwed over like this and are there maybe ways to solve this for the players who actually still give a fuck about their savegames?

sadly... this is the way of the Bethesda game engine.

You play the game on PC? and use the console a lot? :) (if not.. disregard my post; it's probably something else that corrupts the save)

It's the console that is the problem here.. If you tinker too much with the console you actually increase the likelyhood that your savegame will be corrupted sooner or later.

I've experienced this problem with all the Bethesda-games I've played on a computer (Morrowind and Oblivion). The console is FUN FUN FUN... Havent had any corrupted savegames on Fallout yet as I only play it on playstation :(

I play FO3 on PC and hadn't done anything with the console, mods or anything that adjusts the game yet. The only thing I did do differently from most other players on my first playthrough was traveling directly to Rivet City, steering clear of the Galaxy News Radio area and the inner D.C. Ruins (couldn't easily take on Super Mutants yet). But I naturally assume playing a mission differently shouldn't be a reason to screw up the savegames, since it was meant to be a free-roaming game after all.

I also seem to have a problem with save games ever since Broken Steel and its patch.

For some reason the game reacts badly with any fan made mod stuff you put on the game.
Not all of them, mostly the ones that fill in buildings that fans have filled up, and extra items created by them. (I think)

I decided recently to put in some mods that open up buildings in Washington, and now every time I want to return to Megaton to bring stuff there the game crashes and returns me to the Windows menu.

I honestly don't care about Fallout 3 but I want to know what is causing this problem.

What if, with newly installed game, I also install all mods which were used in the old version? Will it be possible then to use the old saves?

I've got same problem as NFSreloaded, I installed the game, put the old saves into their place but whenever I try to load them the game crashes back into the Windows...
