I'm gonna ask if they are doing anything with skill points. JES did say they were making it more frugal, so I'd like to now. It's really hard to play a role when you get 20 skill points every level, forcing you to become a Jackass-of-all-Trades.

not entirely on topic, but anyways... I wish someone for once managed to create a skill system that lets you get better in the skills you actually use, and at a rate based on how much you use them and how successful you are - without it leading to power gaming and allowing you to do the same thing over and over for hours to suddenly become godlike (Morrowind, I'm looking at you *cough*). I guess there's really no way to prevent it, or else such a system would exist by now. or maybe I just haven't discovered one yet.

I played Ultima Online for 10 years, and its skill system was just that, you gained as you used the skill, and as you got higher it got harder to gain. My favorite skill building system ever in a game.

I understand this game is a spin-off of the franchise, and not in a direct line with the previous games. There is so much back story from the games before it, how much , if any, will we hear about our favorite stories, and characters from the previous games?

:twitch:
i think he is talking about F3, if not...i dont know what to say

Please do, I already asked it but I figure it can't hurt to show interest in it by repeating it. I do like that I got a response for the post, "Retard" hahahah.

That Gook guy sounds like a fucking child only concerned with having the ability to kill children BECUZ IT WULD BE AWEZOME.

I asked the following:
Survival is a great idea for a new skill. Will there be any other new skills? Can you give us some examples?

SPECIAL felt very shoehorned into Fallout 3. Do the SPECIAL statistics have any new effects on gameplay? Perception in particular could use an overhaul.

Will any previous followers from Fallout 1 & 2, like Marcus and Sulik, make an appearance in New Vegas? Sulik really needs to find his sister already, it would make sense that she has fallen into the hands of Casar's Legion.

Can you tell us the premise of one of the more interesting side quests? As spoiler free as possible, please.

Will we get another dog follower, like Dogmeat?

How many followers are planned to be available for the final game? Can you tell us anything about them?
A couple people have already liked it. I get the feeling that if we "like" certain questions then it will increase the chances that they will be presented to Obsidian. It will show them that many of the community want these questions answered. If everyone at NMA is doing this then maybe we can have some influence on what is asked. It's just a theory though.

huh, my question got removed. I guess they can't handle the truth.
It was probably just the language. While entertaining, some people are offended by such things. Post the question again and clean up the language and I'm sure they'll be fine with it.

it wasn't the language. I wrote something along these lines:

"in this game, will we be able to do anything else than kill ghouls in subway tunnels, pick up useless junk and run meaningless errands for meaningless npc's?"

and I guess someone thought I was a bit too honest. yet, the following post is still there:

Will we have decent writing this time?

Will the story make sense?

Will there be any logic behind the world instead of food and meds everywhere for no apparent reason whatsoever?

Will we have 200 year old wooden houses? I loved those! So much role-play!!!11

Will we be able to explode everything like before?! That's totally what makes Fallout!

hilarious.

anyways, sorry for the trolling. I'll shut up now.

Oh wait, that was OakTable who posted the thing about a Jackass-of-all-trades. Sorry for my idiocy. I'll shut up now. Maybe.

Yes, and I didn't phrase it that way there either. Figured it would make me look like a plain old jackass.

This isn't Fallout 3 were you are playing for one purpose, to serve meaningless NPC's that ask you to do meaningless quest and to find your dad.

The only reason I could see a dev not answering a question like that would be that they would not want to downgrade Fallout 3 by saying things like . . .

"Yes there is more cooler things to shoot & do then there was in Fallout 3, just overall more content & choices period."

"Yes, there will not be as many worthless NPC's asking you to do meaningless quest since we have factions & a reputation system with more choices to the player. Player's have more option's on what quest & over all thing's they do in this game".

Anyway take your pick, ethier way it makes Fallout 3 look bad. The only negative or comparison anyone can make to F: New Vegas with Fallout 3 is that it uses the same engine.
