Shouldn't there be kids within the Enclave?

It Wandered In From the Wastes
According to the background, the President of the US government and other members isolated themselves in the oil rig in 2077, and Fallout 2 taking place more than 150 years later means they're the third-generation population.

So shouldn't there have been kids on the rig as well, especially considering their obsession with repopulating the wasteland with "pure-strained" humans? This is also bugging me in Fallout 3 too, because most of the Enclave members in Raven Rock are young people, even though the events of Fallout 2 took place 35 years ago.

Perhaps the censors drew the line at the ability to gas children, as you can have the air supply of the rig poisoned. Although for a game like Fallout 2 where you can hide explosive devices on children and watch them paint the streets of The Den red, I find that hard to believe.

Controlled reproduction, just like Vault City. A precise balanace is maintained at all times with reproductive cycles, so that the limited resources of the Oil Rig aren't strained to the breaking point.

yeah even if they needed a controlled population on the oil rig why in Fallout 3 did they not have children when they had enough resources to have children running around as they were young soldiers you would think they would be most fertile at the younger age and try and expand their population to dominate the waste

Don't overthink it. They have children, they just weren't shown on screen, so that you can slaughter all of Enclave and not get negative Karma.

All settlements except Klamath, Modoc and the SF docks were understocked with (visible) children, so it's not an Enclave-specific thing.

Interesting topic. I had never thought of it before. That's one of the reasons I love this place. Would it be too far fetched for the Enclave to be using clones?

i don't know there is a possiblilty that they could be using clones as there is a vault dedicated to clones. why not the enclave use them aswell as they have access to prewar information

I think Fallout handles the theme that clones never work out, turning out either evil, insane, or genetically lesser than the original.

that is a good point but why not instead of perfecting the F.E.V virus which they always seem to do. why don't they perfect cloning surely it must be easier to create a clone army than to continually mutate people to create a super mutant army be a lot easier and less trouble than super mutants

Also the Wright kids in New Reno.

How about cloning... SUPER MUTANTS!

And some random encounters. And the Den if you assume there's a negligible number of non-thieves and non-orphans. And Vault 13 which had deathclaw babies and one human kid. And Redding.

What? There are no clones in Fallout 1 & 2!

Ausir didn't catch that one?

Sloppy, sloppy.

The Glow had suspension tanks that could have been used as clone gestation pods, Sleeper Base style.

There's also the joke conversation with Mason about a cloning accident.

And a very real conversation with Dr Troy about VC's medical technology, which involves cloning tissue. After reading that, the Gary Vault stopped being shitty and became simply badly designed.

This may be a stupid question but here goes... When you clone someone, doesn't the clone start off like any other baby? So even if you cloned the president a couple times, you would still have kids running around, they would just be genetically identical to their clone.
