silent hill movie (spoilers)

muster

First time out of the vault
went to see it last night. it rocked. it wasnt really scary, not compared to the games or my dreams or my housemates.

the best things about it was the female characters, who all kicked ass. the girl played the evil child role perfectly, the mother was a real survivor, the cop kicked ass (like a female Ian) and the religious zealot was a real bitch.

also, i liked the fact that the religious zealots were the real evil. sure, the monsters were evil and did terrible things to people, but i felt the zealots were worse. the monsters were honest evil, they were the kind of evil that existed because evil has to exist to balance out good and represent the bad shit that could thrive in people's minds if they are treated badly. people who do evil in the name of good are so evil, they give evil a bad name. they're liars. its the difference between being poisoned or killed in your sleep, and getting your ass kicked by a level boss but at least knowing why, and that it was either you or him.

I'm moderately looking forward to this movie.

And hey, at least it's not directed by Uwe Boll

I liked this movie. I agree with muster that it wasn't really scary, but for me the SH series has always been more about atmosphere than jump-out-of-your-seat scares so I wasn't too surprised. My only real complaint about the film is that the scene near the end where Rose confronts the zealots and lectures them was just completely out of place. There are some things that could have been done better, but that's true for most movies anyway. Definitely worth watching whether you're a fan of the game or not.

Plus, the cop's chest is unbelievable. I try not to be superficial, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nearly hypnotized and drooling every time she was in a scene. :D

I liked how they set up a possible sequel too; it just came naturally from the story rather than being some forced, tacked on gimmick. Sean Bean looks almost exactly like James from Silent Hill 2, so hopefully if they do make a sequel he'll be in it.

You and me both.

I loved the movie. It actually made me want to go back through and try to beat the games again. I did feel that the religious freaks were a little out of place for some reason though. It seemed like they tacked on a reason for all the strange happenings, and I would rather not have an explanation.

Not particularly scary, but some of the imagery was very disturbing (in a good way). The Colin janitor guy creeped the hell out of me, although being bound the way he was, he couldn't do much to you. Also, when pyramid-head ripped the friggin' skin completely off that woman... woah. They even weaved in the ol' judge not less ye be judged moral in there

Oh ya, the hot cop looked really familiar to me, so I looked up the actress and found that she's the same woman from "The Majestic" with Jim Carrey. Weird seeing her in one after watching the other

does this smell of corpserot? fuck! i dont care, this deserves a gravedigging imo!

i finally got around to seeing the movie & i must say i was pleasantly surprised.

although it doesnt stick entirely to the games, a lot of the games' elements were there & some were even straight copies of the games decor. most importantly though, the atmosphere was there. it's one of the few gamebased movies i was able to enjoy.

i also totally dug the decor... the post-apoc was just dripping off of it.

the story also gives you a lot to think about, as the end isn't really clear. a lot of theories can be spouted about thatone.

as for all the "Cybil = hot" bullshit, she was hotter when she was a redhead. ;)

if you haven't seen it, go get it, asap!
