Skynet says: Error! Downloading file corrupted

First time out of the vault
Hi there,

I finally got to replaying fallout 2 once again (oh damn this game really was/is that great!). However, this time I wanted to get a cybernetic brain (means I tried to get 120+ science this time around).

So I go to skynet and he tells me to go to level 4 bio storage and fetch a brain. The problem is, after I get the cybernetic brain (or any other brain for that matter) and return to skynet and talk to him he tells me the above: Error! Downloading file corrupted. With only 1 dialog option: Exit.

Can anyone tell me whats causing this message to appear? I'm using the fanmade 1.5 patch on a US version.

What kinds of tools are the guys using to create the fanmade patches? Maybe I could have a look at the scripts to find out what triggers this message?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Why do people still post in this forum when they have *mods installed*.
For fuck's sake.

This happens unmodded game as well. I think it's not actually bug. Althrough Skynet says you to return for him for further instructions after you get the brain, you'll end up figuring out yourself what to do next.

Hello Skynet,

thanks for your reply. That means you have to assemble the bot first before you can download skynet into the brain?

Yes. You'll have to get the bot fully functional yourself and then skynet will upload itself in it automatically.

Ok, here the thing, in explanation format. By getting the cybernetic brain, you get skynet, point being, he is no longer in any of the mainframe computers, hence why the lack of any operation would cause the computers to spout an error message. This is because skynet did not copy himself into the cybernetic brain, since that would mean its not himself on the outside, but a copy of himself, and he would still be trapped. Hence, he transfered his complete programing into the cybernetic brain leaving nothing behind in the mainframe that was himself. So that, my friend, is why that error message appears.
