Skyrim GOTY/Legendary edition, worth it?

First time out of the vault
hey so, when skyrim first came out, i bought the game, beat it, and all of the main side quests, and sold it to one of my friends. However, i have been trying to decide if the GOTY edition is worth re-buying just so i can play the DLC's and replay some of the quests; you guys think its worth buying again? how were the dlc's... i trust your opinions more than i would trust some paid critic on IGN

Bought dawnguard for 20 bucks when it came out...It was "eh" at best. Didn't think it was worth it so I never bought any DLC after that.

When I broke the Blood on Ice quest by actually trying to be a detective and not pressing w towards the quest marker made me hate that game. So In my opinion there is no reason whatsoever to buy it, or replaying any quest, they have rather poor dialogue and the choices are non existent.

I wouldnt waste your money on it, Dawnguard and hearthfire were both huge disappointments in my opinion. Never gave the others a chance.

Oh god I hated that. Anyone who took calixtos tour should know immediately who the murderer is, but theres no way to apprehend the right guy.

ahh thank you guys. Yeah i kinda was on the fence mostly because of lack of quality dialogue and choices... going to get X-COM: Enemy unknown and Last of us instead... plus im still playing FO:NV so i can get my rpg fix.

I'm starting to notice that a lot of game developers are mostly going for game play driven games, and they are taking a lot less time in creating a truly story driven experience, one where the players choices carry weight and consequence.

Thanks for all the replies guys! :) im going to have to post in this part of the forums before i buy any games xD

Actually, at that price, you can buy bunch of good old games from gamer's gate, GOG and so on.
I saw Deus ex whole series discoun 75% at gamer's gate.

Ahah, what? :D Context, please.

Blood on Ice is the murder quest in the City of the rebels.

The quest sends me to the lady that prepares the corpses and she tells me the murder weapon was a type of knife onlye her and a guy called Callixto has in the whole city, and that all the victims had pieces of skin tore off of them. I knew he had it because I took the tour. The quest marker wanted me to follow blood splotches and saw a whole scripted sequence to proceed but I already knew who it was and whre to get the proof.

Uh, it's the other way around really, every game is now Story driven with the gameplay being almost an aftertought. Choices and consequences are actually an integration of gameplay and story not just a story thing. I wish there were more Gameplay driven games rather than the 100th corridor tps with overblown plots were every gameplay section is just a brdige between cut scenes.
Later that Night I went to Callixto's, broke into his house and found a chest full of leather straps (gross) and a JOURNAL OF THE KILLER. So you would imagine after aqcuiring such incriminating objects the quest would update with "confornt the killer" or "Present the prrof to the official" but no, it didn't happen, the quest never updated and no option to confront or present evidence appeared in dialogue and the scripted sequence I was supposed to do broke for some reason so that quest stood there, incomplete, forever.

Oh, wow. XD Breaking a quest by doing the most obvious thing. I doubt the game has any quests like this.

It's just awesome...

Actually Skyrim's quests are sucks.
Oblivion has better quest but there's no complicate quest but every quests are simple though. all the quests are easily beat by following arrow.

It really eludes me why people play Skyrim over and over again, other than the Dollhouse factor the PC version and Mods bring there is no real reason to play it more than once.

That's the problem. The reason one who doesn't like RPG likes a RPG is, that RPG isn't RPG. I doubt they like decent RPG like fallout 1,2 or other non-sandbox or non-action or shooting RPG.
They think skyrim is best rpg not becase it's good rpg but because its good sandbox to play. so for them, poor RPG+ good sandbox= good RPG. What a dumb joke.

That last link made me hate BOTH idiots..... the second guy si either a rather bad troll or a retard.

And the others well... I guess that's what Surf Solar referes to when he calls those games Larping. "I can catch salmon and plant cabbages and have houses and marry" the fact that the guy even jokingly states how he hasn't done anything with his life just adds to it.

I am not saying people can't liek Skyrim btw, I am just saying that it's a rather bad game in any aspect that is not just the superficial.

2] The Setting/Storyline

Without doubt, I can say that I have never been more encapsulated by a video game than Skyrim, and I believe that many others would say the same. You’re thrown into the game in a similar fashion as the other Elder Scrolls games, except with more urgency because you’re *spoilers?* TRYING TO RUN FROM A DRAGON! It tosses you into a world filled with deceit and tension, with more depth behind every single character. The world is far more rugged than Oblivion, and the monsters are tougher. Even worlds as disheveled as the wastelands in the Fallout series cannot even hold a candle to this game’s setting. Also, the way the factions are introduced and how they are slowly molded to how you perceive the land of Skyrim is unparalleled, and a testament to the game’s immense storytelling.

You didn't bold enough.

Here, I'll fix that.

The amount of bullshit here, is just too damn high.

The bolding was done by the author, not Kamoho. And yeah, this is a masterpiece in concentrated bullshit, probably reached critical mass. I found myself unable to properly comment or even think about that article, it's just so...... wrong. So completely and utterly wrong it's not even funny anymore. Oh well... in the end, who cares. I just feel kinda sorry for the author if that's how he feels about it. His former experiences with games must have been traumatic if skyrim makes him cream his pants like this.

Skyrim is fun enough. It's better than Oblivion because the combat doesn't completely suck, and there are tons of mods that turn it from a decent game to a pretty good one. The writing will always be fucktarded but it is not nearly as bad as Oblivion's or Fallout 3's (mostly because there is less to screw up), and as far as hiking simulators goes there is a lot of nice stuff to find and see.

I would definitely get the complete edition nowadays, due to mod compatibility.
I don't think combat is important feature of TES.
Even combat is improved, quest and city design(not about visual design) became worse so I don't think skyrim is better then oblivion. Although TES2 and 3 is way better game then 4,5.
Daggerfall has the best combat and rules among TES IMO.
