Still Mildly Glowing
Does anyone know how I can get sound in Fallout 1 under Windows XP?

(I tried setting compability to Windows 95, but that didn't do the trick).

lol @ ivan

i run fallout 1 on win xp without any special setting and it works great

i have an audigy (and i use creative's drivers) so you might wanna check the compability of your soundcard drivers

You have to equip the ring, first.

Seriously dude. Get a legit copy. Most pirated copies don't have sound, FMV, and talking heads.

And you might also have a virus that was snuck into P2P copies by someone out there. :look:

thats fucking bullocks, what kind of numbnuts operation did you download it from...

PS: yeah i bought FO1 and FO2 so dont go all "ow downloading is bad m'kay, dont do downloads m'kay"

Please, dont assume that quickly that just because someone has a problem, they have a pirated copy (no offense meant or taken).

In fact, the whole problem is solved now. I had just installed the DOS version instead of the Windows version. :P

Well, then that's not really their fault. If you had read the sticky post at the top of the forum, the one in ALL CAPS, then you might have some idea as to why people have concluded what they have.

A Fallout 1 rip in particular has no sound at all; a common problem for all Fallout 2 rips is a missing Pip-Boy after the Temple of Trials.

IF you give system specs and more information about your computer, then the tech savvy of us can help you out a bit faster, to a more accurate conclusion, and without this fuss.

Installation method is a good item to include, too, I will have to add that to the sticky.

And if you had bothered to read the second line, you would have noticed that the problem is resolved :P

Nothing to see here, move along...

That doesn't end the topic if it was obvious at the time that you were wholly ignorant to the fact that people had to make an assumption because you gave almost nothing for background information of the problem. Seriously, if you really do expect people to help, give them enough to work with or else they'll just ignore you or, in this case, point out your problem.

I run fallout 1&2 under winxp and i have never encountered any sound errors or anything like that.

BTW heres my system specs: WinXP Home , P4 3.1GHZ, 512RAM, Geforce FX 5200(128 meg), Realtek AC97 sound driver

Well, my point was just that this topic now is redundant, and that it really serves no purpose to post in it...
