Will strolled along the road in the middle of the seemingly endless desert vista in the wastelands. He had wandered this way south ever since the cataclysmic final battle between the CND and NTA a few months earlier when Max had been killed. It had been a long trip. He didn't even know why he was wandering this way, he just had some strange urge to. He readjusted his rifle's sholder strap, and opened a pouch on his belt. He took out a weather beaten spyglass. He started scanning the immediate way west and east for any sign of civilization. All he saw was desert scrubs and a few mutated lizards scampering about. He sighed, and starts to check out the south. Suddenly, he noticed something. It appeared to be a long chainlink fence with several holes cut into it. He looked along the fence until he sees something more interesting. It was like a gate with several tiny buildings set up around it, and a roadblock sealing off the border to cars. Will's glance fell on a sign.
U.S/Mexico border
Will knew what the U.S. was. It was what this land had been called before the war. He'd never heard of Mexico before though. Excitement rose within him. A whole new land to explore. He started jogging briskly towards the gate. He arrived there at noon. The buildings were really small, and empty. They obviously weren't houses. There was a sign on each of them, something about presenting a passport to the guard. Will checked out the sign again. He saw some extra words messily, and nearly illegibly written on it now.
Al Amerecans-Sta owt of da sovern teritore of Mexico.
Santa Anna II
Will shook his head. No one was going to keep him out of there. He wondered who this "Santa Anna" was. The ruler of the area? Will figured he'd find out soon enough. He saw some smoke coming from over the hill to the southeast. "It must be a village." He whispered to himself." He started heading towards there. He crested the hill, and his eyes came to rest on a tiny farming village. Men and Women strolled the streets lazily, and it looked like several chickens were walking the streets as well. His eyes searched for and immediately found what appeared to be an inn. He headed towards it. Several people stared at him, but he paid it no notice. He walked into to inn. A couple of travelers were also in here, gathered at a table. Will squinted at them. They seemed to be familar. Could they happen to be people he knew?
