Is there any point in getting it to 100? What's the highest speech check? 80 is the highest I've seen.

With the Comprehension perk 80 would be enough.

hell even with 54 in speech you could hit the 100 by using the;
4 Lying, Congressional Style books together with comprehension
Naughty nightwear
20+ skill book

You'll have a much easier time with the final boss and the ensuing sequence.
