Fallout goodness spread: 1 Person

I'd like to dedicate this thread to helping other people discover the true beauty that is Fallout. :D

Feel free to post your success stories of people who have never heard of Fallout, never played Fallout, but fell in love with it when they gave it a chance. Double points for console gamer converts. :D

SPREAD THE CHEER! Win back our games that give us pride!

Fallout goodness spread: 2 People for me

Both friends of mine, halo kiddies and what let them install it off of my copy and there in love with it.

1 person, both Fallouts, borrowed one at a time from me. When he was playing F2 he called me up and asked about the dream sequences - he was still a touch paranoid about the time limits in F1. :) After that, he went out and found his own copies. I should also mention that he's a total graphics nut.

Does it count if the person converted is still in Elementary school?

I'd say it counts extra. If he's playing Fallout instead of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi II, that's a step in the right direction for our youth. :)

What if the person is yourself. When I was in high school I strictly played console games. I really didn't care for pc games at all. But one day I saw a title called fallout 2. It looked interested. I really liked how it was set in a post apocalyptic america and it was very mature. I installed it and begun my quest. I wasnt too thrilled at first, at least until I entered Klamath. With the combination of quest, music, characters, and atmosphere I was hooked for life. :)

I converted one Baldur's Gate fan to Fallout about a year ago. He saw that he was in error for all these years :) .

I accidentally spread it to myself. Years and years and years ago, I didn't know Fallout 1 & 2 even existed at the time, and when searching through Filefront/Fileshack I discovered the Fallout Tactics demo. I instantly fell in love with the gore, characters and all the graphics. I played the demo over and over again, but at my age I didn't exactly have money to go out and buy games whenever I wanted. I was seriously limited to like 1 game every 2 months.

Anyways, at that age all I could do was play demos of games and be satisfied with that. So one day my sister, her boyfriend, my brother and me all want to Target to do some shopping. Naturally, my sister would go do the shopping while the 3 guys headed for the electronics section.

I was just browsing the aisle when I see this dual disc case for Fallout 1 and 2. I was like OMG this is the game I played the demo for!(I had only remembered it was called Fallout). I was like is this it? Yea it has to be because it's called Fallout and it's an RPG. So I purchase it and go home and install it and then I'm like.....dude WHAT THE ****ING HELL IS THIS?!?!?!? This is NOT the demo I played before.

Little did I know, I was at the beginning of what would become an obsession with action points and a new found love for the word Jimmy Hat.....it was so beautiful. I skipped Fallout 1 because Fallout 2 looked a little bit more polished in the graphics department. Till this time I have yet to beat either. <_<

1 person for me - only recently also. I'm fairly certain he hasn't played anything else for 2 whole days now since he got it. Gave him both fallout 1 and 2. Spiked his interest talking about it alot and with some fan fiction.

Had so many conversations with him now about it, hes been asking heaps of questions. makes me jelous I can't experience the thrill of learning it all, all over again.

Have you ever persuaded anyone to play Fallout?

I tried and I tried, but I could never get my younger brother-in-law to play it. He's the typical ADD XBOX gamer, pretty much only into multiplayer FPS junk. But I thought, come on, how could you not want to play this?? He never tried it.

I didn't seriously try to get my wife to play it, but she did find the pipboy pictures on the character creation screen amusing, and enjoyed the name picking process. She's your typical "Dream Day Wedding" gamer.

BUT, when I first played it all those years ago, my younger brothers were captivated and they're all huge fans. Even my dad, who is the typical "only plays the original Command & Conquer" conceeded it looked "interesting". Must be in the genetics.

Fallout was, as laughable as it may sound, a pretty big part of my life when I was younger, so spreading the nuclear love is kind of a big thing for me. To date, a large proportion of my friends and the majority of my roommates have been gamers, and I've induced at least a couple dozen of them to give the game a shot.

As far as actual conquests go, there were about a half dozen of my old High School buddies, but it's not like I was ever really keeping a running tally. Two that I claim with pride, though, are my youngest brother (currently representing our number among the High School underclassmen demographic) and my current girlfriend (who, upon first watching me play, proved herself a keeper when she installed the game on her laptop and clove to it like it was providing her some sort of symbiotic nutrition.)

I've got two of my buddies into it, and they had never really played too many computer RPG's.

One of them I converted from Oblivion, so that's bonus right?
