Star Wars: the Force Unleashed

New video.

I have to say, I'm liking the look of this game. I mean, I'm pretty skeptical about the story - apparently you're a super-powerful secret apprentice of Darth Vader who could've kicked Yoda's, Palpatine's, Luke's, and a Star Destroyer's asses single-handedly... yeah, I'm sure whatever twist they're planning will totally have that make sense - but otherwise, looks very nice. Over-the-top force powers like that are every Star Wars fan's wet dream. The Euphoria and whatever-the-other-one-was-called (I have such a bad memory for names) things they're implementing look promising... though I will say that the rag doll physics, as in pretty much every game so far, make the people seem far too much like rag dolls. Like they have no muscles, skeletal structure, their joints can move whatever which way effortlessly, and they don't seem to feel as heavy as they really should. I hope they work on that.

But c'mon. Blowing people away like that? I could do that for days.

Any news on the PC specs required for this yet? It looks like it will make my computer explode in a fiery inferno of death and hate, but you never know, right?

It is Console only .
although i don't like Star Wars that much i must say that the graphics & the physics look awesome !

It is Console only .

Nah. The same thing was said about GoW, until the dudes behind Painkiller made it available on PC.

That said, yes, the 'euphoria' tech looks amazing.

It is interesting how the 'euphoria' , 'Havoc' and the other physics (the one that is for the breaking of glass and wood) interact with each other at the same time !

hmm...it might be released on the pc later but it isn't even announced yet . they also said that capcom is going to release Dead Rising for the Pc but still there has been no official announcement or such .

I bet we'll end up with a scaled down and crippled version of the system.

Remember Radiant AI?

I find the concept to be utter shit, another cheap Star Wars spinoff. I'm not impressed and I won't play the game only because of nice physics.

Ugh, it looks promising... Just PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not make it like the past several pieces of trash that have come out. I have not played a really great Star Wars game since Jedi Outcast and to a lesser extent KOTOR.

I read somewhere that the story will be considered SW canon. That has to mean something, I guess. It looks fantastic, makes me wish for Kotor 3 that could look and play that way.

Damnit, cheap ports suck ass.
Seriously, have you seen the PC requirements for Assassins Creed?

nice concept (old concept too btw), but once again over the top.

why would a walkway collapse if you slam a stormtrooper into it? they even blow up a fucking Tie Fighter by throwing a soldier against it. hell, no wonder that the rebellion won...
not to mention the reaction of the environment... half of it reacts as if it is fucking elastic.

also, the way he holds his lightsaber is so wannabe retard... works with a knife, but a saber? come on.
ever since the first Star Wars they've been trying to make things cooler & cooler, while actually reaching a level of absurdness beyond belief.

PS: why is "darth vader's secret apprentise" kicking empire ass? they turned him in a goody twoshoes?

It's the molecular... bending umm... physics digital technology!

OMG THE FORZ IS SO SWEET THE COOL EXPLUZIONZ AND ALL!!!!!!!!!!111!

Anyway, I'd try it out, some time since I played a Star Wars game.

In the end, the emperor killed DV, remember?
Makes perfect sense.

Also, how exactly does that work with a knife?
Knifes are not supposed to be used that way, proper knife fighting technique is generally defensive with the knife infront of you.

Yesh, that would be my wish as well.

I certainly hope not, but you never know. The whole DMM thing isn't entirely new... it reminds me of what I saw and heard about the Source engine before released. Granted, Source's handling of different materials (in Half-Life 2, at least) wasn't ALL it was cracked up to be, but it worked fairly well in the end still. Point is, shouldn't be too hard to implement well. As far as Euphoria... well, it's not nearly as gratuitously extravagant as Radiant AI was intended to be. A much more workable and realistic goal, I think.

Well, I can understand your opinion, but for a lot of people, including myself, just the concept of being able to toss around and otherwise mutilate people with absurdly powerful Force powers like that is enough to get a little excited, at least.

Being over-the-top was intentional, not that that necessarily counters your point.

I agree with you here, but I've yet to see a game that can handle that sort of thing realistically (as far as slamming people or other organic meat-bags into things and all that). You're really getting into a lot of complex crap, if you think about it, and the physics systems in games now still have trouble handling much more mundane things. As far as the Tie Fighter exploding, that did bother me, since that's totally nonsensical. But whatever, its Star Wars. Not exactly a bastion of realistic sci-fi.

Not sure what you mean by it reacting like it's elastic, actually.

Guess they wanted something different for their anti-hero. Besides, with a Jedi that powerful, he could hold the saber between his knees and still be effective with it, really.

If you notice, there's a part where he's also kicking the asses of some people in Rebel outfits. My guess (and hope) is that he's kind of doing his own thing and has his own agenda independent of the politics.

Pretty much.

This is the game I bought my 360 for.

No doubt there'll be a darkside and lightside choice, but since you are the 'secret' apprentice and carrying a lightsaber and a red one at that there's also probably going to be a lot of friendly fire which ever way you choose.

There will be choices? I thought this was a straight up action game with cut scenes like Lost Planet. Now, I'm really interested.
