Starcraft 2 - It is out there

It Wandered In From the Wastes
So, it looks like Blizzard has announced Starcraft 2. And yes, it's an RTS. Slashdot does a decent job summing up the facts, and there's two blogs on the subject already in motion: one on 1Up and one on IGN.

The details are pretty sketchy so far, but it's good to see that Blizzard's at least making another RTS instead of WoW in space.

Looks somewhat shitty. Better than Warcraft 3's horrible graphics, but still shitty.
It's bloody, though, which is a good thing.

Other than that, Blizzard is a company I have some trust in to make a good game. If only they could also get the story at least as good as in the fist StarCraft...

It looks like Starcraft, but with better graphics, great thing for me.
I would want the same thing for Fallout 3

Ohh, how I've been longing for this; let's face it, Sci-fi>Fantasy (Blizzard fantasy that is, I never liked the 'eternal mage of fire and laser'-shit). What worried me is the system specs the game is going to require; better start upgrading my jar right now.

blizzard seems the only one excused from the hardware game in on the PC market .. they make good looking games with great style but decent requirements (mostly because they use style and tricks over highpoly and ubereffects_... i cant remember a blizzard game that when it came out didnt run well on medium systems ... games might not look next gen but the low specs gets the game sold easier

and from the screenshots.. if you can run Warcraft 3 with everything on ... most likely SC2 will run decently.

I wonder what kind of PC will it take to properly render a Zergling mass attack.

Heck, my computer lagged during zergling attacks on the old game, wouldn't dare imagining how this will be like.

Just watched the trailer, and I gotta say, Blizzard sure can make you long for something.

Hell, it's about time!

Seems like it's gonna be one nice game, at least Blizzard gave a pause into the WoW overdose. But for me, as I stated before in some other thread around, Warhammer 40.000: Dawn of War is THE RTS, and anything in the genre has to be squad based to get my devotion. Gonna play SC2, thought, even missing squads, 7 races, artillery, etc... IF my PC runs it, that is ^^

Dude, except for the fact that the story will continue where Star Craft: Brood War stopped, nothing else was revealed. Thus, you should be optimistic, not the opposite... Besides, your post is a bit incoherent, when you say that have some trust in Blizzard (which, if I remember correctly, gave no deception to their fans so far - not me at least) at the sime time you say their game is shitty. Just my opinion, no offense intended.

Too... shiny.

Oh, come on, Wooz! What do you have against shiny things? We are Glitering Gems of Hatred, we all should like shiny things like us, as long as they ain't shitty. Let's save our bitter for BethSoft :P

I mean the graphics look somewhat shitty.

As for the game, the general feeling I got from the interface (which is almost identical to the old one), and the sounds on the site is that they'll try to keep it faithful to the previous games. Hopefully it will be so.

This is so awesome I don't know how to respond.

Really I played Starcraft for the good story missions, great multiplayer action, and excellent user made scenarios. Really I spent more time playing user-made maps both by myself and cooperatively than time playing SC multiplayer or the missions combined! I'm sure they'll include an editor for the game so I'm not worried even if it hasn't been announced.

I'd still buy it just for the story and multiplayer though even if they didn't have an editor.

One complaint though. As glad as I can be that they're actually making SC2 and not World of Starcraft I think they're doing to SC2 what they did in WC3 which is to make the buildings smaller and the troops bigger. Much more cartoony. Really in comparison to SC they look only a little bigger, but I thought the size differences in SC were perfect.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller
