Recommend anything from DOS to PS2 or whatever, as long as it's a Strategy/Tactics game. CRPGs and simulations are counted.
AoE 2 is my childhood and what got me into PC gaming. You can't go wrong with the classics when trying a Strategy game, which is Age of Empires, specifically the 2nd one especially since it got an HD remaster on Steam and all of its expansions. I feel like the 1st game doesn't age well, except for the memes, and it got a remaster but since it's exclusively released on Win 10 store, fuck that shit IMO. The 3rd game is a mixed bag; on one hand, I liked most of the improvements, especially the cosmetic one where units no longer hit a building with a sword to set it on fire but rather torch them down; on the other hand, it felt... janky? Clunky? It just doesn't feel right even after I got used to it back during my early teens. Also, one thing I noticed is that the 3rd game's performance on the PCs I played on isn't smooth, so there's also that.
