TA3D - Remake of Total Annihilation, artists required!

Babax

It Wandered In From the Wastes
Hello everybody!

Maybe many of you knows a wonderfull RTS game - Total Annihilation.

There is a project called TA3D, aimed to re-create it, preserving atmosphere and gameplay.

Site of the project:
www.ta3d.org

Currently have almost fully working game, the main problem is that we are all mainly programmers, there are no artist among us, so we use old TA 256 colors textures. It would be nice if someone could help us to re-draw textures in hi-color.

Well, any other help will also be greatly appreciated.

graphics dont matter, only gameplay does.

as long as each unit is uniqe and identifiable, you can zoom camera in/out, and when zooming out there are "legend symbols" for what each unit type is...

who srsly gives a fuck what it looks like? hell, i booted up tie fighter the other day and that game is ugly as fuck.

euhm, get off your high horse...

how about a game that has awesome gameplay AND awesome graphics?

sjeez, just because one is more important than the other, doesn't mean you shouldn't strive to have BOTH.

i will admit that nice graphics are good, but i dont really care how good they are.

the more involved the graphics are, the less cpu power can be used for the engine and complexity of play. and AI.

i would rather have a robust engine, good AI, complex unit/tech advancement than excellent graphics.

im ok with mediocre or decent graphics. i dont like AWESHUM! graphics because it generally means the rest of it is shit. of course it does not mean that if it has ok/decent graphics the rest of it is good, but its a good indicator.

You don't dislike good graphics, you simply don't like graphics taking a priority over other concerns. Your reaction was completely ridiculous, you basically went ''Oh so you want graphics FUCK YOU".
What this has to do with a remake of a ten-year-old game is completely beyond me,

nope sander

my point was, those graphics are good enough as it looks like you can identify the unit type. just add type identifiers when zooming out and it is just fine.

Well, we have a kinda comfortable atmosphere, since the gameplay is tweaked by the huge amount of TA community gamers :) All we just have to do is create a fast flexible engine, that preserves TA gameplay and allows of further mod development.

Is this something new? What's with TA Spring? This exists since... don't know, since the dinosaurs died or so.

I think I remember watching someone play this game.

Anyway, cool that you're modding it. Hope it comes out well.

Well, the main difference is that TASPring - is Engine project, so it is aimed to make different RTS, it can`t use Total Annihilation maps, units, mods and so on.

Ta3D is opposite, aimed to re-made Total Annihilation, it is using TA maps, mods, and all other resources preserving gameplay. The Feeleing that you playing dear-old TA with enhanced graphics - is the aim of Ta3d. Also support for units/buildings upgrading, LUA scripting support and many other nice features are also there.

"Spring" wasn't always just a engine project (I still remember that we played this game a lot on LAN partys). I remember how it was named "TA Spring" a while ago and only a TA remake. Don't know since when they changed that.
