That funny little fellow

Hey, where can I access all of the pictures of that funny little fellow? You know, the guy in all the pip boy images and whos head haunts the top of the NMA forums page. Is there any way I can access those pictures? I found a few of them downloadable on this site but it only made me hungry for the rest of them. Thanks.

Well you can get DAT explorer and unpack the master.dat file. Then you'll have to convert those pictures (there in the \data\art\skilldex folder) from .frm formats to .bmp's. All tools can be found here.

Who is that guy? I've seen him referred to as the Pip-Boy, but I don't think he is. I thought the Pip-Boy was that guy from the Pip-Boy, the one with red hair in a yellow retro space-suit thing.

A.k.a. this guy:

Everyone called him PipBoy, but Tim Cain once explained that he didn`t really have a name, they would call him FalloutBoy sometimes, that´s the name me and others been using for a while.

Found It!

Sorry about my incoherent ramblings earlier on in the post, but I've found the guy's name! On page 4-19 of the Fallout 1 Manual, he is called the Vault-Man.

The Manual said:
Above the character card (with the trademarked Vault-Man) are your character skills.

Nope, he was called Fallout boy by the Fallout team making the game, and people speak of him either as Fallout boy or Pip Boy (it isn`t his name, but many just started calling him that) .

I saw him beeing called Vault Boy too on the old Fallout2 site and boards.

This place has some nice FalloutBoy pics http://fallout.scifi.pl/index.php?id=falloutboy.gal&img=artg
we have them all on a zip file, i need to fix the link to download them though.

It's the guy displayed right over the "things to do" paper in your Pip-boy.

Hm. Me thinks, this red haired geezer in his yellow sci-fi spacesuit might be the original Pip Boy/Fallout Boy/Vault Boy. You know, before anyone started to draw all those nice pictures for the perks and stuff. Just a thought, really.

I usually refer to the blonde geezer as the Pip Boy. He's called like that in Fallout Tactics, where you can even recruit him. Anyway, knowing that Fallout Tactics isn't part of the canon and seriously messes up the setting of the previous games, I'm going to call him Fallout Boy from now on.

Hm. No I won't.

This isn't about pipboy, but would I be able to find that retro TV busy signal that you see in the first Fallout load screen in the \data\art\skilldex folder also?

I have an Asus motherboard with the mylogo program and I always thought that that screen would look cool when I load my PC.

Thanks again Briosafreak (this is the correct one I assume). I'm looking for that pic too.

Sorry for digging up this old topic, but I'm trying to find that same indian head load screen again. It's not listed in the Fallout pic's section either; although most of the other load screens are on there...

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I still think it's one of the coolest computer backgrounds I've ever had on my PC.

Where can I find Pip Boy (Fallout guy) Pictures?

Hey, I imagine with such a dedicated fan base there must be a archive of Pip boy pictures (I mean the fallout cartoon guy) screen shoted and lifted from the game. While searching I found a few pics but is there a large archive somewhere? Can anyone post a link to where I can find it? Thanks :)
