Carolinian Shaolin Monk
Anybody got any ideas for what the Carolina wastelands would be like? In terms of social, political, and environmental stature? i made my own little scenario for that. The Carolina wastelands actually consist of Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Forming what we call the greater Appalachian wastelands. The climate here is pretty damn hot and humid. The great war while it did plunge the world into chaos and there were plenty of targets in the Carolinas. Most of the region escaped relatively unharmed environmentally. Most forests and giant mountain ranges are intact. Which explains hot humidity. Socially the Carolinas are not as well off as the core region. While a new Carolinian government established itself as early as December of 2090 in the ruins of Raleigh. A big majority of the population consists of small walled enclave communities, and the other part extremely dangerous and xenophobic tribals in the appalchians that at one point became so extremely organized and well armed you'd think they were the pre war military and launched a massive campaign against the Federal Republic of Carolina (my name for the new Carolinian government consisting of Raleigh, Greensboro, Charlotte, Thomasville, Durham, Willmington, Myrtle Beach, Cape Hatteras, Columbia, and Goldsboro) which led to a 17 year long war of attrition between 2136 and 2154.
Regardless of a massive war, the Federal Republic barely held its own until the second war. They were still relatively small. Politically and science wise, more politicians take a moderate stance in regards to issues in the post war world and what goes on in the Carolinas. Most of them are neither too right or too left. The great war lays more fresh in their minds than most people seem to want to know. As most of the people have more pre war tech, buildings, and history still left around them. Even the people who started the Federal Republic of Carolina were former U.S Armed Forces troops who intended the government to be more of a benevolent dictatorship. In regards to science a lot more people are progressive to get old tech working again and further innovate it. Such a making cleaner microfusion cells for cars to run on that don't leave radioactive messes, making nuclear powered airplanes, ships, submarines, tanks, and even small cold fusion reactors for cities to run on.
As of 2282 the city of Greensboro runs on an MDX-03 cold fusion reactor with a ZAX supercomputer made to monitor and control the activities of the reactor. They're actually one of the few countries who got old pre war tech working again and are innovating it. Smart enough they can get cars and aircraft to work again, which served to their advantage during the second tribal wars (2177-2182). Well that's my two cents, anyone got any ideas?
