I found something interesting about the Cathedrial. I was studying architecture for my history class and we learned that nearly all cathedrials are buit in a latin cross formation (the actual church is in the shape of a cross). I noticed that the cathedrial is not built in the Cross formation and all Cathedrails before the war were (since they are not changing religion or Medieval Archiecture in the game, this must be true). This led me to conclude that the Cathedrail was built after the war, by either early settlers or the Masters Army. I just thought this was interesting.

Or rather..

Or rather the more logical conclusion that BIS didn't even care or take into account the architectual principals that were established for religious purposes over two hundred years ago. I doubt they were searching for something deeper when designing that map.

Well, let's see, almost the entire LA was scythed clean of all architecture, but a giant stone structure, full of stained glass windows and stuff managed to remain without a scratch....

Nope, couldn've been built afterwards, no way.

RE: Or rather..

True, very true. Still it is interesting to wonder. I was just thinking of Thief in Thief the Hammerite Cathedrial is in the shape of a Hammer, but I think Thief has much more enphasis on architecture it is an FPSneaker.

What about the fact that the "religion" has *nothing* to do with Jesus, thus nothing to do with the cross?

Or was it built before the cult came into place?

Christian religion is made around Jesus Christ (that's why it's called Christian), son of God. They made him an idol and their lord, and downsized the real GOD to practically a man with supernatural powers... Thankfully not everybody was a dogmatic fanatic, and that's why Church survived for so long.

Now, I believe you wouldn't see Muslims worshipping in orthodox church building, would you? And you wouldn't see Jewish people in minarets. So if you're saying if the Cathederal was built by Christians - yes it was. And what cult? Christians again?

*laugh* I wasn't disrespecting Christianity in any way. By the word "cult", I meant the Children of the Cathedral.. the master, ect ect.

I think it was built by the children of the cathedral after the war.

Ummm, I dunno, I think a cathedral would be a pretty unconvenient place to build a Vault under. I think it was built by Masta and his mutants.

*grin* "The Masta, eh?"

Yeah, Quinch seems to have it together. And I don't think the Fallout programmers would really concentrate on the accurate structure of an old style Cathedrial.
The game is more important, so they probably set it up FOR the game, not for the structure.
