The Chests of Broken Hills

Some strange chest in Broken Hills...

Hi.

I'm playing through Fallout 2 the 13th time now, and I just saw some chests which I cant get to. When you enter Broken Hills and walk up, there you can see them behind the fence. Whats inside them and how can I get there?

Just walk around the whole screen counter-clockwise.....clicking on the furthest area you can.....even if your guy can't be seen while doing this....he'll get there......lots of good stuff in those footlockers.

I tried that myself... It didn't work. There's fences all around the town and where there isn't one there's an exit grid.

Nah.....it works every time.....put your cursor on the other side of an obstacle and click......you won't be able to see your guy all the time but it works.......try it again.....but only click when the "X" is not in the cursor.....trust me bro

Yeah! I did it! But... I didn't need anything. I have over 999999 Bucks (F2 can't display more...) and a lota Medicits....

JESUS! Is that normal? I found a AdvancedPowerArmon MKII in one of the chests now? Dammit thats kewl...

How many time did you have come back to get the armor? Or is it your 1st time?
 
Those chests in Broken Hills

I have read the previous posts but cannot get around to those chests . The only place I can get a non-x hex is past the green place that takes you automatically to East Broken Hills . How do you do this ?

Also , cannot seem to divert power to the flea-ridden ghoul's home.......using science skill ( 70 % ) on computer but doesn't work ?

Talk to the ghoul at the power plant and hell say he cant devert power then run to the fly ghoul and tell him what the guy said then hell tell you about uranium and you go back to the power plant ghoul and hell do it.

If you want ill tell you how to defeat the scorion at chess and hell attack you and youll get cool sun glasses.

When you get to the exit grid part, by going all the way around the town counter clockwise starting by where your car is parked, then click on the other side of the fence.....don't worry about the exit grid....again this was just asked and solved a few posts down the page and many times before....don't start at the exit grid for the residential part of town.
 
I always wondered about something. When you get to Broken Hills and look all the way north I think its pass the Prison or the General store, you see 4 (I think) chests but I have yet to find a way to reach them. Has anyone else noticed this?
 
If I remember right, and it has been a while since I fooled around with this sort of thing, you are not supposed to see those chests. You will find them on many city maps, and I believe they hold merchant inventories.

Of course, I could be wrong, I'm not too sure on this. Anyway, I'm confident that someone else will give a better and more certain explanation in a bit.
 
You can't it took me a long time to figure that out I think they are for the merchants. the only way to get to them is open the broken Hills map in the editor an delete the wall blocking your way, but i have no idea how this would effect the game.

As an added note, those chests are the store inventories.

That's incorrect. It can be done, I have done it.

As someone else said, the only way to do it is counter-clockwise.

In other words you have to start off heading east and just click on the extreme outside of the map to have your character walk around out of view. You may have to move the mouse around at times to get to the furthest map edges, but it can be done.

Of course, I don't like it because it then becomes way too easy to rack up ungodly amounts of cash and stuff since the lockers replenish.

But 100% guaranteed, absolutely no ifs ands or buts, it is very much possible to do.
