Imagine if someone, somewhere managed to find the exact formula for producing the most perfectly awful example of the uncanny valley (say, for a horror movie or something). Now, accept the fact that this organization is the Japanese Science and Technology Agency, and that they managed to produce the most disturbing machine you've ever seen, without even realizing it. The 33 kilogram CB2 is literally beyond words in its freakiness, not only in its nailing of the uncanny valley, but in its description. Apparently it emulates "the physical ability of a 1- or 2-year-old toddler, can turn over and stand up with assistance," has 51 compressed air-powered actuators, and has 200 tactile sensors in its "skin." It sends so many shivers up our spine to think of the CB2's lifeless putty coating as "skin" that it's a wonder we're even able to continue typing. Seriously, just so that we can stop and move onto something else a little more human (heck, even a motherboard feels homely next to this).

Let's face it, machines will become the next step in human evolution (either by the cyborg-principle, or our minds moved to better bodies).
Either way, this is not going to be stopped (which I find good, as evolution IMO is a good thing).
 
It sucks. Just like all humanoid robots the japs keep trying to make. I don't see the point in something that randomly kicks and shakes like a kid having a seizure. And don't try feeding me that old line "wait a few years, the FUTURE LOL!" They haven't gone anywhere in the last 2 decades.

overhere it is illegal to have kiddieporn. this however also includes drawings or animations of kiddieporn (yes, that means your underaged hentai as well 69).

so i can only imagine that fucking a doll made to resemble a kid, is just as freaking illegal.
 
So wait, you're saying the Japanese translation for what this doll has been created for was to substitute pedophiles a fake child for a real one? I find that difficult to believe, even in science fiction terms.

Although, after watching the video, the robot seems pretty useless. All it does is lie there kicking a little bit, moving its head back and forth, and making "bahhh!" noises. Personally, I believe these humanoid robots in general are useless, with more interesting advances happening in medical, space navigation, and other such robotic entities.

No, I'm British. And I sure as hell aren't advocating legalising such a thing. Not that this particular doll is for that anyway.
I'm just saying that when it comes down to it, better an unfeeling doll than a real kid.
But if the pedo is caught in the act and thrown in jail, I'm not gonna cry.
