The Order Elite (the whole damn thing)

Authors note: this story has references to weapons in Unreal Tournament, and of course Fallout 2. If you haven't played these games, I suggest you do to get a better idea of what is going on, and to have a lot of fun ;-)

Chapter 1. Infiltration...

A small beep sounded deafening to the wastelands cold dead silence. The destination module shot out from the control unit on the agents wrist. The small disc flew with an electronic beep, homing the exact location of it to the control module. A small red button was pressed. Every atom in Jarred Sterns body was read inside out by the control module. A blinding white light flashed for a millionth of a second. For a brief moment in time, Jerrad no longer existed.

The atoms of Jarred up were burnt by a heat 10,000 hotter than the sun. A thousands of a second later and another blinding flash. Jarreds atoms suddenly reappeard, having rebounded off a parralell ether 20 million lightyears away and directly over the destination module. The atoms found their places in the perfect sequence to produce a living being. In half a second Jarred was taken from a spot in space and time, and relocated to another. Jarred had just translocated.

Jarred was now inside the Enclaves wasteland research and development facility. Grabbing his ASMD enhanced shock rifle from belt, he took aim at the enclave guard who had just witnessed and Order Elite appear out of nowhere and take aim. The guard was confident this weapon looking similar to a gauss rifle would simply be absorbed by his armour. He began to reach for his plama pistol. His gibs stained the wall behind him...

(Authors note: I forgot to put this in at the start. This story is set before the Chosen One has even set off on his adventure to find the G.E.C.K. It takes place far to the south of where Fallout 2 takes place, in the deserts of NCR control. Both the NCR and Brotherhood of Steel have no knowledge of either The Order or The Enclave, but vertibird sightings are becoming more frequent....)

Chapter 2. The Upper Hand

The Enclave guard never knew what hit him. A bright orange flash shot straight out of the end of Jarreds shock rifle, and into his chest. The force of the blast ripped his body apart. Not a very pretty ending. Jarred was in the centre of the heli-pad. Jarred shot out the heat sensitive turrets that immediatley began firing upon him from the 10 foot high wall. The door on the command centre opened. 5 Enclave guards ran out firing random shots from their plasma rifles.

Jarred jumped to avoid a shot and did a perfect summersault. While in the air the fired the shock rifle twice, both times hitting a guard in the center of the chest, making their gibs fly backwards. Every time the shock rifle was fired, an enclave guard was ripped to pieces and spread like strawberry jam. The base alarm was now ringing, informing the personel of an attack. Jarred spoke into his headset.
"They're evactuating the base. Team 2 move into position at the south heli-pad and destroy the vertibird when it takes off."

The giant mechanical bird rose from the ground. The pilots new that a force was present in the area. The radar had picked them up as they approached. They had to keep an eye out for the ground force. Somehow that had developed weapons that turned elite guards wearing Advanced power armour into a sticky red substance. On the ground Kharn switched his shock rifle to normal mode and replaced the power cell. A pilot noticed a slow moving bright blue ball rise up from the ground. "Brace for impact, we have incoming" Kharn fired the rifle at the ball. The pilot saw a shot come from the ground, hitting the blue ball. A shockwave of super heated plasma teared the vertibird in half and fried all the occupants within. The vertibird crashed into the desert soil, exploding into a ball of flames.

"Jarred, this is Team 2. The chicken has been cooked"
"Roger Kharn. I take it your shock rifle works perfectly"
"Roger that. The shockwave from shooting the energy ball ripped the vertibird apart. I think the senate may approve of these becoming the new primary weapon for our forces"
"Yes. We deffinately have the upperhand now. Team 3 are inbound to clean up the mess and hopefully find some clues as to what the Enclave are working on now."
"Roger that. Team 2 and I are making our way back to the Ghoul outpost. I'll inform Order City of our success."

Chapter 3. The 'Master Plan'

Jarred had been waiting for 10 minutes now. The sun was peeking over the horizon to the east. The vertibird were was still smouldering. An Order Dersert Scout (a jeep with a vindicator on the roof) and an Order Armoured Personel Carrier (APC) were pulling up to the former Enclave base. Jarred opened the 15 foot high solid steel gates so the vehicles could make their way into the compound. A teams of scientists came out of the APC, led by another Order Elite, Randall Flagg.

"Good to see you Jarred. We'll begin scouring the labs for evidence of the 'Master Plan' that we heard about on the transmission we intercepted."
"Great. These new rifles are sensational. Ripped through Enclave guards and Vertibirds like it was nothing." Randall looked at the remains of an Enclave Guard splattered on the Helipad.
"Yes, I can see that."

Jarred and Randall continued to chat about the success of the mission and other things for well over an hour. Finally a scientist came out of the base.
"Sir, we've found some pretty intersting things." said the scientist, who looked a lot bigger than your average geek. This guy should have been a soldier.
"Ah, good work Proffeser Laz. Have you met Jarred before?"
"No, I don't believe I've had the honour. So you're the cause of this god awful mess around here."
Jarred ginned.
"Anyway, records in the database state that a virus known as F.E.V was aquired from an old military base just west of NCR. It appears that they were storing the Virus in a vault located under this instillation. We haven't quite figured out what they plan to do with it yet."
"Surely they wouldn't be trying to create more mutants like the Master did. They were to dumb to be affective soldiers." said Randall.
"Maybe they were trying to create smarter ones." said Jarred.
"Not likely." said Laz "The mutants are effectivley highly elvolved humans. The virus just evolves the creatures, it can't change the genetic structure of the brain. Well, it is possible, but what would the Enclave want to do with an army of mutants? They have the technology to take over most of the wasteland. All they lack is manpower."

As the 3 discussed what the Enclave plan to do with such a mosntorous virus, another scientist came out from the base.
"Sirs, we've had a brief look at the makeup of the Virus, and it is useless. It wouldn't evolve anything at the moment. It's lacking some chemicals needed to produce the effect. It looks like this has been achieved on purpose."
"Well" said Laz "What would the enclave has use for green sludge?"
"Maybe they were planning to put differnt mixes of substances in. Instead of having a live virus that mutates life forms, they had something else in mind for it. The fact is that not even the Enclave knew what chemicals to put in it. There are references to something called the 'Master Plan' and 'The clensing' but there is no conclusive evidence of what they are planning." said the scientist.
"It's lucky we took over this base. Without a good supply of the F.E.V they will have to slow down whatever they're creating. That military base was checked out by an Order Scout not that long ago. It's sealed and impossible to get into. They won't be able to find anymore F.E.V. It will take them quite some time to create more." said Flagg.
"Well, find out what else you can. I'm contacting Order City and and ordering a demolition crew. Some troops should be here soon incase the Enclave try and come back." said Jarred, flicking away a cigarette.
"What are you doing now Jarred?" asked Flagg.
"New Reno is the drug capital in the wasteland. If the Enclave needed chems, they'd be getting them from there."

Chapter 4. The Biggest Little City

New Reno was the first city Jarred had ever saw. It had changed. It had been a while since Jarred had been here, but obvously Jet had taken over. NCR lost control about 10 years ago, and the remaining police must have been killed or exiled. The Order outpost hadn't been picking up any Enclave activity in New Reno, but the Salvatore family sometimes take a caravan with chems far north of town with lots of guards, and come back with different crates which are believed to be full of their laser pistols. Jarred had to check with some spies around town...

Standing on the corner was a man obviously flying high on Jet. Jet-Head (or Angus Stern) was an Order Elite who poses as a drug dealer often hears the word on the street from his customers.
"Jet-Head, give me a few canisters"
Jet-Head looked around. Jarred and Jet-Head had been friends since Jarred had first came to New Reno. They used to play mutants and raiders all day. When Jarred joined, he convinced Jet-Head to join as well. They barely see each other, but the friendship still remains as strong as ever. Jarred pretended to buy some Jet.
"Jet-Head, I'm here to talk some real buisness."
"I'm listening brudda"

"What do you know about the Salvatores laser pistols?"
"Well, they can cut a man in half. One of Salvatores men showed me his pistol, and it had been modified by whoever they got that from. 'They' happen to be the Enclave. He told me they meet a vertibird in the desert, and exchange chems for the laser pistols and ammo. But here is where you came in. The Enclave called off the exchange last week, probably because they lost their F.E.V and Research Facility. It'll be a while before they can come up with more F.E.V. And here is something I heard just this morning. The Brotherhood are trying to find out who destroyed the Enclave reasearch base, and they want to have a meeting to try and join forces."
"Have you told the guys in the outpost here?"
"Sure have man. They want you to go as an ambassador and negotiate. I think our cover has been blown. The Enclave definately know there is another technologically advanced group other than the Brotherhood that pose a major threat to them. The Brotherhood have many eyes and ears, and they could be a useful ally. Your to report to Order City at once Commander! Godspeed." Jet-head playfully saluted, acting as if he were high. Jarred, who was mucking around, punched him in the stomach .
"Anything else interesting?"
Jet-Head smiled clutching his stomach.
"The Brotherhood agent also told me something. Do you remember the story of the Vaultdweller?"
"Of course I do."
"This is just heresay, but he believes the direct dicendatent of the Vault-Dweller has been sighted in Klamath."
"What was he doing?"
"Killing rats."
"How do the Brotherhood know its him?"
"The Brotherhood helped the Vault Dweller defeat the Master and destory the mutant base. They know more about the Vaultdweller than anyone in the wasteland. They believe this man, the Chosen One, will help them defeat the Enclave."
"This Brotherhood may not be as good as it sounds. I don't see they can offer us much. Seeya Angus."

Chapter 5. The Alliance

The Brotherhood did not know who destroyed the Enclave base, so they had to be careful. For all they knew it could have been former Enclave soldiers who wanted the Brotherhood dead as much as their former army. The Order Desert scout stopped in front of about 10 Brotherhood Paladins just north of where the Brotherhood base was believed to be. Jarred got out of the jeep, followed by Aragorn and Fusion. The Order wanted the Order Elite and Senator to see things through incase things got messy. The Paladins looked exactly as Jarred had imagined. He had never seen a real Paladin before, and they looked a lot meaner than you'd think. Their Power Armour was more advanced then average power armour, and their gattling lasers shined brightly.

"I am Bruce, High Commander of the Paladins. I represent the Brotherhood and the New California Republic. We heard of your successful attack on a Enclave base, and many things your organisation has done in the past for the good of the people of NCR."
"Hey there. I'm Jarred, Elite Commando of The Order, this is Order Elite Aragorn and Order Senator Fusion. We represtent The Order."
"What exactly is the Order?" asked Bruce.
"We do not wish to disclose much information, except that we want the Enclave destroyed as much as you do, and we are willing to work together if we see there is enough gain for both of our organistaions."
"The Brotherhood have the excact location of an Enclave Vertibird Maintanence Base and an Enclave Factory were they produce their armour and weapons. We also have the location of the Enclaves Main base, although it isn't much use to us at this stage."
"Why? If you know where the Enclave main base is, The Order will be able to have it destroyed in days, as well as the other bases."
"You don't understand. The main base is in the middle of the ocean. We put a tracker on a vertibird, and have come to the conclusion that an old oil rig is the main Enclave base. We also know why the Enclave have such great technology."
"Why's that?"
"The Enclave is what is left of the American government."

"One of our spies in the factory, who we have lost contact with and is believed to have been executed, spoke to the 'president' himself. The Enclave plan to kill everyone on the entire planet and repopulate the Earth themselves. They believe everyone that is on the mainland are 'mutants' and not pure strain humans. They even captured all the inhabitants of Vault 13 to take to the oil rig to test their weapon."
"THE F.E.V!" shouted Jarred. "The Enclave were going to use that F.E.V to wipe out everyone on the entire planet. That's why it was missing some chemicals. That's why they are testing it. They don't know exactly how to make it an effective killer, and are testing it on pure strain humans and us 'mutants'. Thats why tribes have dissapeard from up north. It all makes sense now."
"What was that?" asked Bruce.
"In the base we destroyed was lots of F.E.V, the virus used to make the Masters mutant army. The F.E.V was practically useless because some compounds were missing from it. The Enclave have been trading guns for chems with the Salvatore family in New Reno, probably to make the FEV into a devestating killer virus. We do have some time though. Without a steady supply of FEV to test with their research must slow down untill they can find more or make more of their own."
"We have much more information on the Enclave and their technology. I think an alliance will be the best option if we are to have a chance against the Enclave."

After a discussion with Fusion, Jarred had come to a desicion.
"The Order accepts The Brotherhood of Steels proposition. We'll have our intelligence agents go to your main base so we can share knowledge and technology."
"This is a great day. Soon we will see the end of The Enclave."
"I'll contact Order City and we'll send some of our finest men to set up communication between your base and ours."
"This will be a promising alliance between 2 great unknowns. Consider The Order as our brothers"
Jarred shook hands with Bruce, as did Aragorn and Fusion.
"I think our first action should be to temporarily stop the Enclave from expanding by cutting of their armour and gun supply on the mainland. We must destroy the factory, and try and capture a working Verti-bird. Vertibird technology would be our only hope of destroying the Enclave oil rig."

Chapter 6. The Slaughter

The Enclaves armour and weapon factory was located in a dug out cave in the side of a mountain near the old military base west of NCR. Team 1 (made up of Jarred, Kharn, Kurdt and 5 Brotherhood Paladins) had encountered a Enclave patrol group when they were on their way. The Vindicator minigun on the roof of the Order Desert Scout mowed them down like they were a desert flower against a weed whacker. Kurdt radioed to the factory with the patrol groups radio that an unknown vehicle was approaching from the south. The man on the other end said they'd put extra guards in front of the base to fight them off. This would work to the attack teams advantage. If most of the guards are outside the base, they would be able to take the guards out with the shock rifle, leaving inside the base practically empty. It's a cheap trick, but this wasn't a game. If the Enclaves technology is cut off, they can be held back from dominating the wasteland. At the moment, they practically hide from the outside world. They could easily overrun most of the wasteland cities. This was not a battle the alliance could afford to lose....

The plan worked like a charm. Kurdt was firing the Vindicator at the base since they were a mile out. Few bullets hit their targets. At 400 metres from the base Kharn brought the Desert Scout to a stop and Kurdt ceased fire. About 20 Enclave guards began advancing on the vehicle. The attack team got out from the scout and drew their ASMD Shock Rifles. The Enclave were advancing in a tight formation. This was absolutely perfect for what Kharn had in mind. Kharn fired a plasma ball at a medium height. The Enclave dropped to the ground and opened fire. When the plasma ball was over the guards, Kharn shot the ball. Almost intantly the blue streak hit the plasma, causing a devastating shockwave of superheated plasma that hit the guards at twice the speed of sound. Most of the guards were ripped limb from limb, while a couple weren't ripped apart, but were fried in their metal armour. Jarred took a deep breath.
"FIRE AT WILL!!"

Kharn put in an enhannced power cell. A direct hit with a shot of the shock rifle would now rip the victim apart. The others switched on their rifles and got in the Desert Scout. Kurdt fired up the Vindictor, which spat out bullets towards the base. From behind 5 more Desert Scouts came along side Jarreds and also opened fire with their Vindicators. Enclave guards were caught in the cross fire and thousands upon thousands of round were emptied, their projectiles aimed directly at them. Kurdt turned off his Vindicator and picked up the Redeemer sitting in the back of the scout with him. The Redeemer is similar to a rocket launcher, except that it has a small warhead and can be steered by the person who fires it. Kurdt launched the rocket and made it soar high into the sky. The Desert Scouts came to a stop 150 metres from the base entrance. Kurdt directed the warhead almost strait down onto the remaing guards still firing upon the scouts. The blast levelled the everything 50 metres from where it hit, which left a small crater and blew the door that led inside the mountain base straight off, leaving a gaping entrance almost inviting the small batallion in.

Chapter 7. The Spoils of War.

The Brotherhood Paladins cleared the base in a matter of minutes. The Order supplied them with shock rifles, and their combat knowledge and courage as soldiers gave them an edge. They spared a few scientists for questioning about the 'Master Plan' and everything they know about the Enclave. It turned out that most of the Enclave that are on the mainland bases are just recruits and they don't know much about the whole Enclave itself, except for the department they work in. Well, that's what they told Jarred anyway. Beating them half to death wouldn't make them tell anymore. In the base was much of the Enclaves latest technology, as well as blueprints for advanced power armour and other projects. These were the spoils of this battle...

Also on the otherside of a mountain was a fully functional Verti-Bird that had just been brought off the production line. Brotherhood technicians said that the main computers had been activated and the Enclave would know of its exact location if the Order or Brotherhood tried to keep it. Kharn sent a fake transmission saying the verti-bird was hit during take-off, and were about to crash. Kharn then set off charges and scuttled the craft. That verti-bird would have given both the Order and the Brotherhood another advantage over the Enclave. The computer databases had been wiped, probably when they realised they were under attack, and no blueprints could be found.

Jarred opened the comm-link with the Brotherhood base. On the other end was Bruce.
"Bruce, we have successfully taken the Enclave Weapons and Armour Factory. We've raided the base and got schematics for advanced power armour. There was a set back though. We had to scuttle a verti-bird that was found incase the Enclave tracked it, and there were no blueprints or anything in the base. The computer database was cleared before we entered."
"That's bad Jarred. I suppose the only place with blueprints would be the verti-bird maitinence base. We managed to get some of our spies in. The base has just been put online and is undermanned but still very well defended."
"Could your spies get some verti-bird blueprints?"
"Unfortunately while transmitting this information they were discovered by an Enclave officer and shot on the spot."
"We could launch an all out attack on the base, but it would all be for nothing. The Enclave now knows we can match their technology with everything except the Verti-birds. Any signs of attack and they would destroy any vertibird plans. We are about the demolish this base here and head back to Order City. We'll plan our next course of action from there."
"Jarred, I may be able to get those verti-bird plans. There is one man who could infiltrate the base while posing as a new recruit."
"Does he work for the Brotherhood?"
"No, not at the moment, but he will. He has 'family' ties with us and will most likely help us out. He needs armour and weapons for his mission he's on now, and we can spare some for him."
"That's great Bruce. Over and out."

Jarred switched off his headset. "DAMN IT!" he yelled while clenching his fists. Without a verti-bird or similar technology the Order can do nothing but wait for the Enclave to somehow cleanse the whole world of human life. Even with detailed blueprints and schematics it would take months to build a fully functional verti-bird. By that time the Enclave would have their deadly FEV and kill everything that we hold dear. Everyone in the wasteland had not been born into a friendly world. Jarred and Angus used to dream about the world before the war when they were kids. Roads that spanned continents. No such things as mutants, radiation or the wasteland. Jarred hoped that one day the world would go back to the way it was before the war. Jarred, and everyone else that had put their life on the line for the good of humanity, hoped....

Epilogue: The Chosen One single handedly destroyed the Enclave from within. With the Enclave destroyed much of the wasteland evil was eradicated by the NCR taking control. When the Order finally thought there would be peace, something happened. This something would keep the Order and The Brotherhood at war. This something would not leave the wasteland in peace. The rise of humanity from the ashes would not last for long. The nirvana everyone had hoped for was very short lived....
