The Story of Paint Rock OOC

TheTrader

First time out of the vault
Any questions here please or talk about the game here.

A couple of little bits of info.

All characters start with Special Stats at 1

And all Skills are at 0.

Your Character will be in all things generic at the start and only your actions will define him and his skills.

If you take a job and an event occurs, you will be sent a PM with the situation and you can decide what to do.

And the town will evolve how it will, It may end up as the new NCR, or it may end up a slaver town. Its up to those who play to shape Pain Rock and its future.

Also the game stars around the time of Fallout 1, So no NCR at start etc.

Just give me a Character Name and i will add you to the citizens list. then its just a simple case of Picking a job you want to do in the main thread.

The game will advance pretty quickly based on how fast people respond. If things take too long the game will advance without players moving.

The story will always drive forwards regardless of activity ( time permitting )

On the Main thread you can put yourself down for one of the jobs the town is offering then i will advance the game.

your first job will result in a stat increase, after that it will be down to Dice rolls as will the success of each mission and your actions. The higher the skill/stat the harder it is to improve.

your character has been added Syphon, you can start your life as a Paint Rock Citizen in the main thread.

Any advice on ways to improve the game are also much appreciated

your Character is now active White Knight

For the status of the town and Characters please refer to the first post on the Game thread

atm im just runing it as a GM, i know the mechanics of the game so would gain an advantage.

As things stand im playing as the Mayor as opposed to a character.

Also at times there will be Votes for all active citizens about decisions the town will make with regards to slavery, Military, Colonization etc. The NPC villagers dont vote ( for obvious reasons ) and the active players count as a percentage of the voting pop, So 3 active players controll 33% of the vote each.

Just to clear up. You only reply by PM for mission specific orders.

I need you to tell me what job you are doing before i can advance the game.

If your PM didnt end with you having an option then that is the end of that weeks mission and you need to re-assign.

The final result of all missions will be revealed in the Weekly Town updates.

btw, the reason the game is played largely by PM is because when you are on a mission your actions would only be known to you.

If you want to share those stories here and your actions after you have made them thats fine, consider it telling stories over a glass of Dirty water when your back in town. But please keep them in OOC.

Some other info

When two players are on a mission and there is only one pice of equipment to be found, Each player will have a dice rolled for them to simulate chance, the highest scoring gets the item.

Skills will negate this in some instances, where you are finding an item the Perception skill will trump the die roll should one player have a higher perception than another.

The same counts with many skills needed for actions in the game. A well trained and advanced character will work produce good results.

Also with permission i would like to post the missions in here after the events so each player can see how the game is going, I wont post them if the player requests it be kept a secret because they have found something they dont wish the other players to be aware of, is this ok with everyone? it also helps me keep a record as i can only store so many PM's and will need to delete them as i go.

Here is BoS's last weeks work ( since he has granted permission for it to be made public )

you head out into the Western Plains following the river. for two days you travel finding only burned out farms and dead land.

Midway through day three you are accosted by a man holding a pistol who asks you " what the fuck you doing on our land?"

taken a little by suprise you find a reply does not come quiet quick enough and the man repeats his question while aiming the gun at your head " i said what the fuck are you doing on our land!"

Your pretty sure you are about to die when another female voice calls out " put the gun down john ya dumb shit, he clearly aint no raider, looks just about ready to piss his pants"

Still a little in shock you do at least feel a little safer when the man puts his weapon away and back off. The woman approaches you and asks you " now Darlin, you better be telling old Angie what your doin on our Brahmin ranch, we dont take Kindly to uninvited guests"

"I'm just scouting for a small town we mean no harm we don't no the outside world to well." you replied

Angie looks you up and down and says " ye might just be telling the truth darlin, tell you what, i let ye live and you head on back to Paint Rock, yes we know of your little town. You tell your mayor that the our farm be open for some tradin if you ever be needin some Brahmin hides "

" you jes make sure he knows we aint to be trifled with, ya hear me son "

you say you will do this and head away from the farm, as you begin to get a little distance away from them you start to pick up speed as panic starts to rise in you. It must be two miles before you get yourself together and calm down enough to rest.

you make camp for the night but dont get a great deal of rest. In the morning you head back to town somewhat quicker than you headed out of it.

Week 3 - Marshall's Rat Hunt

Week 3 - Marshall's Rat Hunt

you [Marshall] head south towards an area well known locally for its rat numbers looking forward to using your new combat knife in anger for the first time. On the open Plains near the highway you are have having trouble catching the little bastards.

you have noticed that they do look to be heading to, and away from the abandoned sheriffs office. near the end of day two you have only one rat in your bag and you know this will be a dissapointing result should you return to town.

You have three options, head back to town, head over to the sheriffs office, or stay near the Highway and try a different tactic?

The rats appear to avoid the highway, and Marshall decides on Day Three to try his luck hunting at the abandoned Sheriff's office. The dilapitated structure is crawling with troves of rats. He is cautious, seeing as he doesn't want to get closed in inside the building, but doesn't want to return in failure.

He slowly and meticulously goes room by room, in close combat with the massive rodents. Marshall tries his best to jump ontop of the rats and stab technique. He misjudges distance acouple of times and lands his face/chest while the tail skirts off past. But after a few maligned tries, he begins to hone his craft and use agility to couple his attack.

Marshalls new tactic starts getting results almost straight away, and after a couple of days of solid hunting, while sleeping away from the Sheriffs office he has a handy haul of 9 rats to return to town with.

On his way out he tries his luck one last time but this rat scampers away, Marshall follows it and sees it duck through a hole in the floor near an old Highwayman vehicle that is long past any use to anyone. On closer inspection Marshall sees that the rat hasnt gone down a hole at all but dissapeared into a cracked steel underground storage door.

There are problems with this, firstly the hole is nowhere near big enough for Marshall to crawl through, and seccondly the Highwayman is sitting right on top of the doors ensuring that it would take a team of people to gain access to whatever lies beneath.

Marshall heads back with his catch with much to ponder.

Thanks for putting that up Syphon helps me keep track of things since i need to keep my PM's clear.

Btw, for your information the town this game is based on exists, it's in texas so you can use google maps to follow the story if you wish.

The town was picked at random by me zooming into google and looking for somewhere realistic
