Paint Rock, as towns go this place is nothing to look at. To be completely honest its not much of a place to live, what with the Raiders, Slavers and Geckos that are frequent visitors to this small pocket of civilization.

The Rusted old Road signs place this town on Highway 83, something of a throughfare for traders, and undesirables heading between bigger communities in what remains of north America. Not many stop at Paint Rock, and those that do usualy cause trouble.

The people of this town dont remember how this community started, or where they came from, all they know is that each day is a battle against the world, and its a battle they are losing.

The Current population Paint Rock is 39, this has shown some small increase over recent weeks despite some losses.

Crime in Paint Rock is dealt with harshly and quickly, the death penalty is handed out liberally.

The land surrounding the town is flat and dry, with the exception of the East where the river Flows leading to some small lakes, this area is overflowing with Silver Geckos, and there has upon occasion been the odd sighting of the Golden Gecko.

Highway 83 runs north to South, with Traders and trouble heading both ways in equal measure over the years, still verry little is known about what lies in either direction. Most of the Townspeople who have headed this way have failed to return, either because they found a better place to settle, or they found a hole in the ground to settle into.

It is possible to follow the River to the west, But again little is known about what lies more than a few miles from the town.

The town has surplus food supplies and everyone pitches in when required, what this town realy needs is new blood to help it not only survive, but maybe even thrive.

Only time will tell....

( this is going to be a story about this town, It may end up destroyed or it may grow to be the new NCR, it will go how it goes. If you wish to join all i need is a player name, Then with each new installment you will be given options on what jobs are available to each character. From simple farming to Taking part in military actions later on, you may end up wealthy or dead, its up to you to make the correct choices based on your character and his skills. So create a charecter and then let me know what job he wishes to do in each chapter of Paint Rocks History. You will gain skills as you do things during the story. )

The first part of our story will soon follow...

It has been an interesting week at Paint Rock, the farms are running well and the town has not been under any real threat. A trader did pop by on his way south on Highway 83 and was looking for Skins for his return journey North when he again passes through.

The Communal Farms are producing well, but there are some Rumblings of Discontent that the Gecko hunters are not sharing the Work while still being able to reap the rewards of the land.

The Town well is in a poor state of repair but is in no immediate danger of failing given the small population and requirements of the community as it stands.

This week there are a couple of Jobs the town is willing to pay for.

Farmers needed- Job entails working the land and helping on the communal Farms, There is no payment for this job but it could increase your Survival and Strengh Skill.

Gecko Hunters- The Town is looking to hire some of the Local Hunters to aquire some Gecko skins for the town stocks. Payment will be 10 Caps for the weeks work Less 4 Caps for food and water while out on the trail. This job carries some risk of Injury/Death but could increase your Surivival Skill and Melee weapons skill. Total Payment 6 Caps

Scout- The Town is looking for someone to Scout South on Highway 83, this is just a small Foray into the unkown and will again pay 10 Caps less 4 caps for food and water to sustain you on the trip. Total pay 6 Caps. Again there is a risk of injury/Death but could increase your Stealth skill and Perception skills

Week 2

After the Traders visit the Mayor Dispatched a small group of 4 Gecko Hunters to east to try and gather some Gecko Skins for the town stocks. Each of these Hunters was paid 6 Caps at a total cost of 24 Caps to the town.

The hunt went well with 2 Geckos Captured, providing 2 Skins for the Town and more food for the Townspeople to enjoy.

The community farms have continued to to produce well and the town has stock for many more weeks, there are no concerns with this as things stand.

Our scout run produced positive results with an old Sheriffs Office being found to the south just off Highway 83, while it has been picked clean over the years the building is mainly intact and is worthy of note. There does appear to be a rat problem in this area but the rats appear to stay clear of the Highway itself and pose no threat to the town.

This week the town had no visitors of note but there was a sighting of a small group camping out on the north side of the river, while not large enough to be a real threat to the town, their presence is a concern.

This weeks jobs are

Farmers needed- Job entails working the land and helping on the communal Farms, There is no payment for this job but it could increase your Survival and Strengh Skill.

Gecko Hunters- The Town is looking to hire some of the Local Hunters to aquire some Gecko skins for the town stocks. Payment will be 10 Caps for the weeks work Less 4 Caps for food and water while out on the trail. This job carries some risk of Injury/Death but could increase your Surivival Skill and Melee weapons skill. Total Payment 6 Caps

Again the Town is looking to discover more of the surrounding terrain, this time we are looking for information on what Lies to the West of the town, somewhat off the beaten track. Payment will again be 10 caps less 4 caps for Supplies. Total pay 6 Caps.

Lastly the Town is looking for some information on the group seen camped out to the north, your mission here is to observe them, and make contact if it is deemed safe to do so. Pay is 15 Caps for this mission and the Town will provide food free of charge given the nature of the task.

It is also possible for you to head out on your but this will cost you 8 Caps for supplies for the week. Just name a direction, you will return to Paint Rock by the end of the week.

Week 3

The town was busy once again this week, especialy to the east on the Gecko plains where a six man team headed out to do some gathering for the town. They were pretty successfull returning with 5 Silver Gecko carcases.

The visitors north of the river have not moved during this week but do look to be preparing to depart, there is still a possability of communicating with them should the town see fit.

New land was discovered to the west where a few days travel will take you to a Brahmin Farm run by a well equiped group, numbers of both livestock and people are sketchy with only 2 people witnessed from this comunity.

We have been approached by some Slavers who have offered to sell some slave to us for 100 caps a piece, they were not in the best condition and the slaver's as a group seemed like a ragged bunch, the mayor refused the offer citing the need to vote on the town stance with regards to slaves.

This weeks jobs are

Scout to the North ( avoiding our Visitors ) and return with information on the land and any encounters you have, Pay is the usual 6 caps after supplies have been paid for.

Head north and scout out the small group that is camped out on the edges of the towns territory. you need to first scout the group before deciding to make contact. Pay is again 15 caps without the need to pay for supplies as this is a high priority job.

The town well needs clearing, something is causing the pump to malfunction, and while its only a small problem now it may cause problems for the towns water supply in the future. Pay for working on the well is 8 Caps with no need to pay for supplies as you are doing community work.

lastly our Rat meat stocks are runing low, so we require someone to head south and catch some of the Vermin to re-stock the town. The Pay for this job is 6 Caps after stoppages for supplies.

Our gecko hunters inform us the Geckos need time to repopulate the near edges of the Gecko plain after are recent outing there so this job is not on offer this week.

And we have our First vote. As a Town we need to decide if we deal with slavers, be that buying or selling.

A simple

Vote Yes ( if you wish the town to deal with slavers )

Vote No ( if you wish a Ban on all dealings with slavers )

Please vote as you apply for jobs

Week 4

Danny Smith rolled into town this week with 6 new citizens for the town of Paint Rock. They also provided some information on what lies to the north. North on the 83 lies the town of Jahova, a town about twice the size of Paint Rock but currently in the grip of a gang war between a group of slaver's and a religious group known as the Warriors of Jahova.

It is this war this group is fleeing from, and it is one they never wish to return to. there does not seem too much hope of friendly relations in this direction at the current time.

The towns supply of rat meat was increased significantly, and the town have set 2 of its new citizens to be full time Rat hunters.

The towns well is back in good working order, after some small issues were recently fixed by a group of citizens.

The Trader who required Gecko pelts is due back this way anytime now.

This week the town is offering the following jobs

Someone is needed to scout the Town of Jahova, and observe what is heppening. More than one citizen can accept this quest and it pays 20 caps with supplies given at no cost.

To the west the town wants to indentify if there is any land suitable for a new farm, if a site is found it will be sold at a later date to the highest bidder at a time of the Mayors choosing.

Gecko Hunting is back on the menu with the traders due in any day now. The town is willing to pay 10 caps with free supplies such is the urgency of our needs.

There is also an opportunity for Citizens to take part in militia training, this will COST you 4 caps for weekly supplies but will result in 2 Skill increases and One Special increase. Depending on your training choices.

Marshall volunteers for Militia Training.

While at the town forum, headed by the Mayor, Marshall tries to convince people he might of found a treasure trove to the South and that their help is required. It is muffled out by the new comers welcome and a sense of fulfilment this week.

Week 5

A small hunting expedition headed out into the gecko fields and returned with a poor haul of only 2 pelts for the town. Still its better than nothing.

The caravan we were expecting did return and bought up all the towns gecko pelts paying 40 Caps per pelt. It appears they are in high demand atm .

The Militia training went very well, with the town sure to gain from its citizens gaining basic training in the art of self defence.

One worry the town has is that Danny Smith has failed to return from his scouting mission to the town of Jahova. No information is available as to why he has failed to return.

There has been an issue with the newcomers to the town, three nights ago one of them attempted to Rape Jesse, a farm hand. He was stopped before things got out of hand but many of the farmhands are not happy and are calling for blood. This will need to be voted on by the citizens as there are no Laws in place in Paint Rock as things stand. ( this can be discussed in a new thread for In character interaction called the Paint Rock Forum )

This week the town is offering...

Gecko Hunting ( pay 6 caps )

We are also looking for someone to head west with 200 caps to secure some Brahmin hides for the town to fix the some shelters over outlying buildings to ensure we have enough suitable buildings should more people come to town. Pay is dependant on the success of the deal.

We are also looking for someone to head north and see if they can find out what happened to Danny. you have the option here of leading a group of two NPC's or going alone. 20 Caps if done alone, 8 Caps if done in a group.

To the west the town wants to indentify if there is any land suitable for a new farm, if a site is found it will be sold at a later date to the highest bidder at a time of the Mayors choosing. Pay is 8 Caps

Week six

This week there has been a strange atmosphere around town, not least because at the start of it one of the newcomers was executed for attempted rape. People will think twice before commiting a crime in this town, either that or they will make sure the reward is worth the risk.

Both good and bad news accompanied the return of the group that headed north, the good news is that Danny is home safe, the bad news is that one of the men sent to find him wont be returning. Never underestimate the Wastes.

The town had a quiet week economically, just ticking over with all the other things that were going on.

We have a Diplomat from Jahova visiting, a town meeting will be convened shortly.

This weeks Work

The town has requested a work detail to do two things, both head north and retrieve the body of our fellow citizen for a proper burial in the town cemetary, we dont leave our own to rot in the wastes if it can be helped. pay will be 6 caps

Someone is still needed to head west to negotiate a trade for some Brahmin hide to roof over another one of our towns structures. Pay is dependant on results.

Someone is wanted to head to the old Sheriffs office to check out that underground storage shed, to see if there is something we can do to gain entry. Pay is 6 caps ( a bonus will be paid if a workable plan is hatched )

Still someone is asked to head west and and find some suitable land for a new Farm should the towns population need it. Pay is 5 caps, with a 5 cap bonus if a suitable spot is found.
